Jack Antonoff teams up with Lorde for Bleachers' stellar 'Don't Take the Money'

Fans got their first listen from a piñata.

Bleachers' new single, fittingly, sounds like it belongs at the end of a John Hughes movie when our two star-crossed lovers (certainly in two opposing social circles at their high school) get their priorities straight and totally make out.

"Don't Take the Money" featuring Lorde is the first single from Jack Antonoff's second solo album.

Antonoff went in deep about the song's meaning on Instagram.

"[Don't take the money] is something i say in my head a lot. It's not about actual money. It's about following a light. A gut feeling. Not following a deep gut feeling destroys your art and the people around you," he writes. "So I say it in my head constantly. Sometimes about something very specific relating to music, sometimes about a bigger question about marriage or depression."

He originally released the song by tweeting videos of his journey from his bedroom at his parents house in New Jersey to Union Square in New York City, where a piñata in his likeness contained USB sticks with the track, naturally.

It also happens to be Antonoff's birthday, and yes, his girlfriend Lena Dunham also has an emotional Instagram caption for the occasional.

Antonoff recently worked with Lorde on her forthcoming album, Melodrama, and produced Zayn and Taylor Swift's 50 Shades Darker theme song, "I Don't Wanna Live Forever."
