Background
In the second growth and transformation plan sesame is recognized as the six priority crop because of its potential for foreign currency earning and employment generation from field to export marketing. The Sesame Business Network (SBN) is a network working towards the development of more competitive, sustainable and inclusive sesame value chain. BENEFIT-SBN is a project supported by the Nethgerlands government through its Embassy in Addis Ababa (website: http://sbnethiopia.org/)
BENEFIT-SBN is looking for a competent agricultural economist, who can support stakeholders of the sesame sector in Western and North wester Tigray zones. The candidate is expected to work with the various actors in the sesame value chain such as farmers, primary cooperatives and cooperative unions, traders, processors and exporters, private sector organizations, regional bureau, zonal and woreda offices on several marketing related subjects. The candidate should have experience in accessing international and national market demands; market prospection, opportunity and risk analysis; securing input and output marketing finance; support entrepreneurs engaging in value addition and export marketing.
