Trump Energy Department tells staff not to use phrase ‘climate change’

Bravo. This is long overdue. Climate change is an industry started when I was just a kid. Then it was called ecology. The modern equal to the emperor’s new clothes. It has made the left rich and enabled the government to control more and more of our lives. But to use this fairy tale to duck real life and death issues is malevolent. Fact is, the climate changes. It has for millions of years, with or without man. The idea that it is man’s fault is the height of hubris.

“Energy Department tells staff not to use phrase ‘climate change’: report,” by Brooke Seipel, The Hill, March 29, 2017:

Story continues below advertisement

Staffers at the Department of Energy’s (DOE) international climate office have been asked to stop using the phrases “climate change,” “emissions reduction” and “Paris Agreement,” Politico reported Wednesday.

A supervisor at the DOE international climate office asked staff not to use the phrases in memos and briefings within hours of President Trump’s Tuesday executive order that reversed many of former President Obama’s climate protections, the report said.

The phrases have not been banned outright, but are reportedly part of a list of climate-related terms that are being avoided in light of the Trump administration’s attitudes on climate change.

A DOE spokeswoman told Politico that “no words or phrases have been banned” within the office or the department as a whole.

“We have definitively not received anything on banned words, not even orally,” a State Department official told Politico. “But people are doing a lot of reading into tea leaves. People are taking their own initiatives to not use certain words based on hints from transition people. Everyone is encouraged to finding different ways of talking about things. There’s a sense that you’d better find a way to delink” from the previous administration’s talking points….

On tv long ago I watched Al Gore at some climate related conference and everyone who didn’t hold Gore’s bogus ‘science’ views about climate change was told “bullshit”. And this was all that an Ivy League university education could instill in Al Gore,”bullshit”! No courteous or intelligent discussion, just insults and “bullshit”. Whenever I now see this arrogant fool of a man I see “bullshit”.

Agreed. The only warming trend of which he has any first hand knowledge is when his former wife, Tipper, went into meltdown when she found out about the hooker he was jacking around with. That marriage now resembles the Ice Age.

In the early-mid 1970’s, following a series of stingingly cold winters, the climate changers spoke of global cooling and a future ice age. They were wrong then as they are now. All politics.

Frankly, atmospheric dynamics, including heat transfer into outer space, is too complex for fallen man to understand. We have rudimentary observations, facts and climate trends, improved modeling of climate events and weather forecasting, but the atmosphere is a system where powerful forces are at work, not to be taken lightly by a few political scientists masquerading as meteorologists.

One should ask this question: “why is it necessary to pollute our beautiful blue skies with unsightly chemtrails? Who is getting the bill on that one? What is the objective? Man can influence climate artificially – and it may provide unpredictable, grievously detrimental outcomes.

Utter twaddle, Mark. It is possible, though, that the ever increasing concentration of “greenhouse gases” headed off a cooling trend. However, that in no way minimizes the problems attended with global warming.

Frankly, atmospheric dynamics, including heat transfer into outer space, is too complex for fallen man to understand.

Sure, Mark, make it all sound so mysterious- perhaps we should just pray to the gods for deliverance. The fact is, well-trained minds are capable of understanding the physics behind global warming. Yes, models will necessarily not fully reflect reality, and the dynamics of earth’s atmosphere are indeed complex. But it doesn’t take Einstein to understand that if you input more heat (enthalpy) into a system, temperature will increase, particularly when you do so while decreasing albedo by cutting down forests.

One should ask this question: “why is it necessary to pollute our beautiful blue skies with unsightly chemtrails?

Get a clue, sir.

Man can influence climate artificially – and it may provide unpredictable, grievously detrimental outcomes.

We already are.

The earth is not a closed system, as you have implied. If it were, the surface would have gone up in smoke and flames thousands of years ago.

The planet balances incoming and outgoing heat flow from whatever source, which is why we can post on this site.

In your zeal directed toward anthropogenic whatever-you-call-it, you ignore major sources of heat contributory to the earth system: the Sun itself, and undersea tectonic sites such as mid-oceanic ridges (many thousands of miles of them), subduction zones, transform faults and numerous oceanic “hot spots”, many of which are concentrated in the western Pacific basin. Wonder why the water is warmer there and tropical storm systems are more numerous and violent?

Recommend you expand your thinking away from political fluff-speak so you can smell the roses and consider the science.

Yes, why is the country not protesting daily about the harmful effects of the chemtrails above our skies. Silence from all around. And yet, there they are on a daily basis spraying those toxic chemicals down onto us. Ive counted up to 9 criss-crossing trails at one time. Disgusting.

No one is suffering
from the harmful effects of the chemtrails which mad people claim are spraying
toxic chemicals down on us. Sensible people use the correct name – contrails, short for “condensation trails. They are normal emissions caused
by water vapor and several other engine byproducts

Mark, satellites in space over the last 20 years have been recording the effects of emissions on climate change. These have shown that emissions have contributed only a tiny amount to global warming, the major contributor the sun and galaxy, but even then nowhere near the extent that the climate change liars have been making out. Even then, as in the past regions of the earth are affected, not the entire planet, so while the northern ice cap has been shrinking, that in Antarctica has been growing,
I am all for fighting pollution, cleaning the air and the seas, and ending chemicals that kill bees, etc. It’s hugely in the interest of mankind and his health, but what we need is the truth not manufactured science with scientists spouting rubbish because that is what earns them grants to conduct and mis-conduct scientific work. There have been occasions in history of massive climate change that had absolutely nothing to do with man, such as the freeze up in the north that wiped out the mammoths and where today are the sands of the Sahara Desert, lakes with wild animals all around. We live in an age of terrible lies and liars, and in the end have difficulty determining the truth. The story used to be that we need “education” to end this nonsense, but education has produced more adept liars. As Solzhenitsyn pointed out, what is needed is a spiritual change.

Good clear and concise comment Rob. May I add:

The atmosphere is a complex system, and one that demands further study before conclusions about warming or cooling may be reached. Often it takes time to establish a short-term climate trend. Just as importantly, heat flow from sources almost never cited in literature and climate-change conferences cannot be ignored if warming is the issue. Beside the obvious heat source in the Sun, there is tremendous amount of heat liberated from the earth’s mantle finding outlets through mid-oceanic ridges, subduction zones and hot spots. It is virtually impossible to measure all the heat emanating from these sources, in which mankind has no control over whatsoever.

CO2 has been called a greenhouse gas but again, almost all the C02 in the atmosphere is not originating from man-made sources. At least 97% is coming from the same sub-sea heat sources (volcanic vents) cited previously, not to mention numerous sub-aerial sources on the planet surface (including the massive volcanic feature at Yellowstone Nartional Park).

More C02 means more, and healthier, plant life. One scientist documented that if C02 dropped below a certain level, plant life on the surface would be unsustainable. So CO2 is not the problem: so-called “political science”, backed by money, is.

Unregenerate liars have a special place reserved for them: Revelation 21:8 – a place where “global warming” never ceases …

Not so much political science in which I have a degree, but bogus atmospheric or ecological science. From what I’ve read and seen in at least one documentary, the whole thing is now so corrupt in an effort to whip up, for political reasons, concerns, an industry, and control over our existence. Anyway, interesting points you added, not least about the benefits of C02 concerning which I had read, but forgotten. As to Revelations, let them enjoy their ‘warming’ for being liars.

Don’t mean to demean political scientists in general, Rob – the ones I refer to are those who mix politics with science, the end of which is, the political side rises to prominence while the practice of good science looses its identity.

Excellent! But, we do actually have some need to worry. We are dangerously close to having CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere that are TOO LOW! We are currently hovering around 450ppm and plants die in concentrations below 150ppm. When the plants die, we die. 1000ppm or better would be good for food and other oxygen producing plants.

This goes beyond simple Orwellian “newspeak” in that climate change is a complete hoax. Where is the evidence of its existence? There isn’t any. The proponents of it rely on nothing more than computer models and corrupted “research”. Besides, a person loses all hope of being taken seriously when they start spouting such “cow jumped over the moon” nursery rhyme logic while attempting to gain points in a serious debate.

Well, the climate is changing, but it’s hardly obvious. That the weather changes is obvious from day to day and year to year — you don’t even need to measure it accurately to remember you had more snow this year than last, and so on. What is not so obvious is that climate which is made of averaged weather factors over long periods of time — 30 years perhaps — is changing in any significant way. It can’t be obvious because the differences in average temperatures, for example, are measured in hundredths of a degree. No one is sensitive enough or has a memory good enough to claim that climate change is “obvious”.

So what do they do? They trust without question what some ‘scientist’ says who has never correctly predicted the change in average temperatures over even ten years, let alone thirty. They believe that these ‘scientists’ can accurately measure changes in average temperatures worldwide over the past century even though the alleged changes involve differences so tiny that they are overwhelmed by the measurement uncertainties. And they never wonder why even given those uncertainties in the data, these same ‘scientists’ feel compelled to cook the data by systematically ‘adjusting’ the earlier temperature averages downward while ‘adjusting’ the more recent temperatures upward, thereby ‘proving’ the climate is warming — and not by just a little bit, but by enough to threaten total disaster if we fail to halt CO2-producing industrial civilization now.

Ms. Geller reads the situation intelligently and correctly.

About damn time! I remember in the early 90.s they were crying about global cooling and another ice age, when that didn’t happen it was global warming, we are all going to burn up in a fire ball, nothing again, now it has changed once again, now its climate change, that way they can cover all the lies at once, so now, whatever does or doesn’t happen the lib pukes can cover it under a blanket title! Now, watch, some judge somewhere will say that is illegal!

But telling Americans what they may and may not say violates their First Amendment right to freedom of speech.
