If you want to transfer your data from another Android device to your new, Android-powered BlackBerry KEYone, you can use the BlackBerry Content Transfer app.

Getting Started

Before getting started with the BlackBerry Content Transfer app, it's important to know what can and cannot be transferred using this process. You can transfer the following types of data that are saved in the storage space on your previous Android device:

  • Contacts
  • Calendar events
  • Pictures (non-DRM)
  • Videos (non-DRM)
  • Music
  • SMS text messages (The BlackBerry Content Transfer app transfers up to 3500 of your latest text messages.)
  • Documents (Android version 4.4 or later)
  • Email accounts (The BlackBerry Content Transfer app detects the accounts on your previous device and prompts you to enter the passwords for each account on your new device.)

In order to transfer any data, you must have the BlackBerry Content Transfer app downloaded onto your previous Android device as well as your BlackBerry KEYone. BlackBerry KEYone comes with it preloaded, and the Android version can be downloaded here.

Transfer data using Google Drive

Before you begin: You must add a Google account to your new device. In Settings, tap Accounts > Add account > Google, and follow the prompts.

  1. On your new device, open the BlackBerry Content Transfer app, and then tap This is my new device.
  2. Tap Next again, and then choose the Google account that you want to use for the transfer.
  1. On your previous device, open the BlackBerry Content Transfer app, and then This is my previous device.
  2. On your previous device, then tap Next, then choose the Google account you want to use for the transfer.
  3. On your previous device, select the type of data that you want to transfer to your new device, and then tap Start.
  4. On your previous device, on the Create password screen, do the following:
  • To protect your data, enter a password. Enter the password again, and then tap Next.
  1. On your new device, open the BlackBerry Content Transfer app, and then tap This is my new device, then tap Next
  2. Then choose the Google account you used for the transfer. BlackBerry Content Transfer will find the files from your old device and let you know Transfer files available
  3. Tap on Transfer to begin transferring your files.

Keep in mind, during this process you may be prompted for the password that you created earlier to transfer files. Additionally, you may also be asked for your email account passwords if you decided to transfer those.

After your data is transferred to your new device, you can delete your data from Google Drive. Tap Remove transfer files.

The method above is one of the most reliable ways of transferring your content when using the BlackBerry Content Transfer app. Keep in mind, though, there are multiple third-party options available for moving your content available on the Google Play Store.
