It has reported that the students of the Benue state university have carried out a protest against the schools management’s decision to prevent student owing fees from writing their second semester exams.
One report by Daily Trust shows that as early as between 6:00am and 10am, the students who were expected to continue their examinations which started on Monday took the entrance of the institution to disrupt academic activities.
The protesting students, though hostile to newsmen as they pelted them with sachet water, disclosed that the management of the institution had insisted that they pay their fees before writing exams when their parents who are civil servants are being owed salaries for several months.
Some students asked how their parents can pay school fees since they are still being owed salaries. They carried placards, some of which had funny inscriptions on them including one which said “Snake has swallowed our school fees”
