Worse, the return of Weapon X cheapens the events of Death of Wolverine. Logan's death wasn't just about giving a long-lived character a much-deserved rest, but to give his death meaning by allowing him to finally rid the Marvel U. of the scourge of Weapon X. Why go through the trouble of reviving Weapon X yet again when any generic, shadowy organization could have done the trick here?
This series also reunites Pak with Phoenix: Endsong artist Greg Land. Land has become a fixture in the X-Men franchise over the years, but his art retains the same storytelling flaws no matter the assignment. His heavy reliance of photo-reference ensures that his characters tend to look identical to one another, particularly the women. His facial expressions are often out of sync with the tone of the script. To his credit, Land does bring a sense of energy to the action sequences that is sometimes lacking in his other work. But that energy is just as often canceled out by the overpowering yet murky colors of Frank D'Armata.
