Kelley Blue Book in Irvine has launched KBB.PT in Portugal in a move to expand its presence overseas.

The site, managed by KBB’s Irvine and Portugal offices, will offer free used- and new-car pricing in Portuguese and English. Eight employees have been tasked with maintaining the site.

“We’re confident KBB.PT will quickly become the market standard for vehicle pricing and valuations in Portugal, offering the industry and consumers with effective transparency within the car market,” Dan Ingle, vice president of international business development for Cox Automotive Media Solutions Group, said in a statement. The group includes Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader.

Kelley Blue Book is partnering with Auto SAPO, a provider of automotive listings in Portugal, to receive accurate pricing data.

Sales in Portugal have been on the rise. In 2016, roughly 210,000 vehicles were sold, up from 178,500 in 2015. In 2011 there were only 153,000 vehicles sold.

The 90-year-old KBB has been around for 90 years, known in the auto industry for its car-buying books. In 1995 it expanded to include a website that provides reviews, videos and pricing information for car buyers.

The company also works in China with Bitauto Holdings, an internet content and marketing services provider in the auto industry there.
