Hear Blondie’s Intense New Song With Dev Hynes, ‘Long Time’
Blondie‘s Debbie Harry and Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes co-wrote “Long Time,” a joyous, upbeat new track that will appear on Blondie‘s upcoming LP, Pollinator, out May 5th via BMG.
“Long Time” captures Blondie’s signature disco-tinged punk sound with a big mix of synths and guitars that pulse beneath a rush of cymbals. “I’ve been running circles round a night that never ends,” sings Harry, “I’ve been chasing heartache in a city and a friend/ I’ve been with you so long, even seen you lose/ But who cares?”
Along with Hynes, Blondie’s Pollinator will feature contributions from Sia, Charli XCX, Laurie Anderson, TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, Joan Jett, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and the Strokes’ Nick Valensi. Indie rock veteran John Congleton produced the record. Blondie previously shared album track, “No Fun,” which they co-wrote with Sitek.
Pollinator marks Blondie’s 11th record and follows their 2014 album, Ghosts of Download. The group will team with Garbage for a co-headlining North American tour that kicks off July 5th at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California. John Doe and Exene Cervenka of X will open the first half of the tour, while Deap Vally will serve as support during the second leg.
