'My fiance's family wants him to dump me after 10 years'

Diane has been betrayed seriously by a man she loved and hoped to marry when his family decided he must marry someone else.

I have been dating for 10 years now and we had planned to get married early next year but now, his family want him to marry someone from their hometown. They have suddenly realized that I am too old for him even though Austin is five years older than I am.

They have also forgotten how much I suffered for him when he lost his job and depended on me for three good years before he was able to get another job.

I met Austin at a business luncheon organized by our company and he was one of the guest speakers. I was the moderator at the event and I noticed that Austin kept following me with his eyes and shortly after the event, he came to me to commend the way I handled the whole thing.

We chatted for a while and exchanged numbers and I thought that was all. A day later, he called me and said he would love to take me out for lunch and I accepted.

He came to my office at lunchtime and we went out to an eatery. All through the lunch, Austin could not take his eyes off me and midway through it, he told me he wanted us to go into a serious relationship.

I did not take him serious initially because I thought a man as handsome as he was would surely have so many women lining his bed.

I told him to give me and he agreed. But he kept coming to take me out, buy me gifts and called me often.

I was not into any real relationship then and after a while, I decided to give him a chance and I must confess that Austin turned out to be one of the best men I have dated.

He was so caring, loving, gave me so much attention and when we started having sex, he proved to be such a great lover. I fell in love with him so much and built my world around him.

But one thing about Austin that I did not really like was the fact that he never took any serious decision without consulting his family and would only take a stand when they give their approval.

In all the years we have dated, Austin kept assuring me that we would get married at the right time but I guessed the right time would be when his parents gave the go ahead.

So I was shocked when he told me that his family want him to marry someone from their hometown with the excuse that women from my side do not stay in a husband's home.

I don't know where to start from after I had chased away all the men who wanted to marry me because of Austin. I regret the three abortions I had for him in the early days and don't know where to start from.

Diane."

Dear readers, Diane is in a serious dilemma now after dating and putting all her hopes on Austin only for him to do this to her. On Morning Teaser today, what do you think she should do?
