Laure, Rondina combine for 44 as Tigresses rally past Lady Bulldogs

The UST Growling Tigresses came back from two sets down to defeat the NU Lady Bulldogs 20-25 19-25 25-22 25-21 15-12 on Saturday in the elimination round of the UAAP Women's Volleyball competition.

EJ Laure and Cherry Rondina provided the firepower, scoring 22 points each off 40 of UST's 62 kills. Christine Francisco added 11, while Marivic Meneses scored 10.

The Lady Bulldogs leaned on Jaja Santiago for 30 points off 25 attack points and four service aces. Jorelle Singh and Aiko Urdas, meanwhile, scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.

With the win, UST improved to 9-5 in the standings, just behind Ateneo and La Salle. NU, meanwhile, finished their campaign in sixth place at 7-7. —ALG, GMA News
