CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
A landlord, Henry Mbramize has abandoned his house after his tenant, Uchenna Charles threatened to kill him and take over his property in Lagos.
The incident happened at Gbolahan Bankole Street, off Agric Road in Igando, Lagos where they resided.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the landlord went into hiding over the tenant’s threat to his life. It was gathered that the tenant had been owing arrears of rent and told the landlord that he will not pay him any rent or pack out of the house because he lost his job after he moved into his house.
It was learnt that when the landlord attempted to apply certain measures to either pressure him to pay or have him park out from his house, Charles then threatened him.
Police source said Charles had some raps of a substance suspected to be indian hemp, brought some people and they were smoking heavily in the compound. When the landlord saw their mood, he took to his heels. Charles was said to have called him back and threatened to kill him. Since then, the landlord had not returned to the house.
He later went to Igando Police Division and reported how his tenant forced him out of his house. The police trailed, arrested Charles and charged him before Ejigbo Magistrates court for smoking Indian hemp and threatening to kill his landlord.
He pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. K.J. Layeni granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
