When McDonald's debuted their buttermilk crispy chicken tenders back in September, they had no idea just how popular they would be.

Turns out the buttermilk-battered chicken strips were such a fan-favorite they've completely sold out. While McDonald's addresses their supply issues, they're briefly taking the chicken tenders off the menu.

"Our customers are lovin' our new buttermilk crispy tenders. Because demand far surpassed our expectations, we will soon take a brief break from serving them at our restaurants," a McDonald's representative told TODAY Food.

Fans were understandably upset by the news.

It seems like some will get their Christmas wish this year. McDonald's confirmed on their website that the Buttermilk Crispy Tenders will be back in restaurants on December 28. They've even provided a handy countdown clock for those who are eager for their return.
