Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.39% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 1.35% or 0.12 points to trade at 9.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) added 1.09% or 0.40 points to end at 36.95 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) was up 1.04% or 0.30 points to 29.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 10.59% or 1.27 points to trade at 10.72 at the close. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 7.25% or 2.90 points to end at 37.10 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 5.94% or 0.28 points to 4.43.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 258 to 106 and 31 ended unchanged.
Shares in BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) fell to 3-years lows; losing 7.25% or 2.90 to 37.10.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.43% to 29.77.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.13% or 1.65 to $1228.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $48.71 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.30% or 0.43 to trade at $142.00 .
USD/BRL was down 0.90% to 3.0913, while EUR/BRL fell 1.14% to 3.3191.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.15.
