Hey guys, I just picked up the Joyetech Dolphin, and it is AWESOME as SAUCE!
This little device is simply the best sub-ohm device I have ever used.
The design is simply genius. The V-OCC-type coil is horizontal rather than vertical, creating a vape that is %100 spit-free, where any possible spitback slams into a chamber wall rather than into your mouth, but the coil perform so amazingly that I’m not sure they even spit anyway. I can’t find any evidence of spitback and this is literally the FIRST sub-ohm device to accomplish this. I’ve tried and bought many from every brand, trying nearly every type of coil, and this is the first to accomplish no spitback whatsoever.
The flavor is absolutely fantastic, the clouds are stunning, no leaks or weird condensations whatsoever, it’s easy to fill (see below), the coils literally last through 30 ML’s of juice (yes!), the airflow is HUGE, double the Penguin’s, and the coils I bought after the purchase work even better than the one in the kit box. That is outstanding!
Here are some very important (and no fuss, but essential) tips to make a big difference in your experience with this device:
1. When you fill the tank, only fill it about 3/4th’s full, even a little more than that wil work, but not %100 filled to the brim. If it’s %100, it WILL cause pressure problems leading to slow wicking. Leaving a little air makes it flow like butter, but no leaks. If you fill it a little too full, vape on it easy until it lowers a bit, and open the newly-featured fill plug a couple of times to allow pressure to diminish. Perfect solution.
2. The new fill port on the tanks is a little tough to get used to. You can still fill by taking the coil out, but to master the new fill plug on the top, with high-VG juice, it takes a little practice and knowlege of physics. If you fill the new port in a completely horizontal position, VG juice and air-bubbles will prevent it from flowing in, which will get messy fast. Instead, hold the tank in a unique position where the plug hole (which is rectangular) is pointed diagonally up in the air, with one of the bottom corners of the hole nearest to your chest. Allow your liquid to flow from your nozzle over the very bottom corner closest to your chest. Allow it to even run onto the plastic a bit if needed. This will create enough space in the port where juice will flow down from the bottom corner, while lettting the air from inside escape easily out of the port corners that are positioned higher in the air and away from your chest. This is hard to explain, but makes a %100 difference. It literally makes the difference between the new juice fill-port being a failure and genius, easy-as-pie feature!
3. While your filling your tank for the first time, also set your coil to the side and drop a few drops of liquid into it. Once you put everything together, a 5-minute wait, to allow additional wicking, IS important! After that though, everything is golden.
4. If you ever get a dry hit (my 2nd 0.25ohm coil is one of the most beautifully working coils in history, but the one that came in the kit box had just a *tiny* problem in wicking super-quickly - I only got one dry hit on that first coil, but did have some muting every now and then), these coils recover all the way, no problem. If it ever happens, which in my experience so far is pretty much NEVER (the flavor is juicy but no spitback! amazing!), just let the coil sit about 5 minutes. These coils recover fantastically, my first one lasted through 30ml’s! Also, this device is very easy to primer puff, and even tapping it lightly on your palm helps a lot if it ever rarely needs a wicking boost.
5. Though I haven’t tried max-VG, I think 70/30 is the perfect level for these tanks. Any lower for the 0.25ohm coil and it seems to taste a little to crispy. Any higher and I would imagine there’d be slower wicking (but I don’t know for sure). I would say though that a 70/30 is the best to “start off with” when first trying the Dolphin.
6. These coils like to make a billowing noise. That’s a good thing, and if the coil ever goes smooth and perfectly quiet, that means it’s a dry or semi-dry hit, so just listen to your coils a bit and let go of the power button if it suddenly sounds blank after a few seconds, preventing anything from burning. Rarely ever a problem, just pay attention to what your device likes while getting used to the performance.
7. You can clean out the tanks and re-use them. Just pick up some %98 Isoprophil Alcohol from first-aid, wash ‘em out with that, it’ll dry almost instantly!
I haven’t tried the 0.6 coil or the 1.something coil yet (I’ve just been so in love with the 0.25ohm) but the 0.25 works as though there’s magic behind it. Best flavor, performance, and coil-life in history.
I can’t even find it gripes about this device. Actually, the only one is that the new huge power button mis-fires every rare blue moon, I think it’s because the button is so big that pushing it at a bit of the wrong spot doesn’t activate it fully. But you get very used to what it likes and it’s rarely ever an issue.
Only after a couple days, I have everything perfectly figured out with this puppy, and that quick ease-of-use is RARE in the vape world. Trust me, this is the ONE device vapers should get in 2017. This thing is plain out FUN and brings back what vaping is all about. It performs like nothing I’ve ever seen; whereas Kanger coils last me maybe 10ml’s, at best, this thing’s coils last around 30ml. If not more, as I was even pretty rough on my first coil with changing flavors.
Love this thing! I think a lot of these tips will help a few vapers that I’ve seen that have experienced a bit of slow wicking, and I highly, HIGHLY recommend this bad boy! ALSO this device is TINY compared to what it looks like online, I was shocked how tiny it is in person while having a 6ml tank! Literally, it’s extremely portable, much slimmer and shorter than I ever expected from online pictures, which is a big plus IMO!
Having a great time with it! What do you guys think about the Dolphin so far?
