School guard-turned-cum laude: It’s never too late to learn

Security guard Erwin Macua has served St. Theresa's College in Cebu Cebu for almost 20 years.

According to Jamie Santos' report on "24 Oras," Macua strived to study and earn a degree while working as a watchman at the school and having three children of his own.

On Saturday, Macua not only earned his general education diploma, he did it with honors—cum laude.

"Hindi hadlang yung kahirapan sa makatapos ng pag-aaral. Sabi ko sa sarili ko it's never too late to learn," Macua told Kapuso mo Jessica Soho.

"Kahit na may edad ka na, as long as nagpupurisge ka makapag-aral, makapagtapos. Then makakamit mo rin yun balang araw," he added. —NB, GMA News
