When police arrived, McCoy was being detained by the store employee, who McCoy had assaulted as he left the story, and a bystander.

Thompson was sitting in the passenger side of a vehicle when police arrived.

When Baytown Police Officer Robert Ramlal asked Thompson several times to get out of the car, she refused, and instead opened the door and let the pitbull out of the car, which attacked Ramlal, police said.

Ramlal suffered injuries to his arm and hand after the pitbull attacked him.

Ramalal was forced to shoot the dog, but not before the dog inflicted serious tendon and bone damage, which will require several surgeries.

Police arrested McCoy and Thompson and charged with both with robbery.

Both are still in custody
