One of the last houses that celebrated architect Mark Singer designed, an ocean-view home completed in 2016, is on the market in Laguna Beach for $5.6 million.
Singer, who helped to modernize the look of the city and the Orange County coastline, died in 2015.
The 3,647-square-foot home at 2396 Crestview Drive has four bedrooms, including a master suite leading to an outdoor, private spa. A standalone bathtub offers coastal views.
Beyond the home’s dramatic entry and spiral staircase is a professional-grade kitchen with white, quartz counters and skylights. The house also features various work spaces that include a secluded, sunken office.
The Pacific Ocean can be seen from nearly every room in the house, which is set off by terraced landscaping.
Sean Stanfield and Seth Nelson of HOM Sotheby’s International Realty are the listing agents.
Singer designed and built hundreds of custom homes, commercial properties, restaurants and art galleries in a more than 30-year career.
He had fought pancreatic cancer for more than a year.
John Stanaland of HOM Sotheby’s International Realty told The Register in 2015 that he sold many of Singer’s designs, which were coveted and typically went for a higher price just because they were “Mark Singer” homes.
“He was a complete visionary and ahead of his time,” Stanaland said.
And Laguna architect Marshall Ininns has credited Singer with changing the look of Laguna Beach by introducing modern shapes and designs.
“Top of the World, he mostly shaped that neighborhood,” Ininns said.
