Description

Scratchpad allows you to quickly write anything down from menubar or Today widget.

Don't search for a pen and a piece of paper when you need to jot something down talking on the phone next time. Scratchpad is always just one click away.

There are no folders and other complicated features that always get in the way when you need to quickly write something down. It's as simple as it gets.

And for the times when you want a bit more organization, you can easily export your text into Evernote or Notes app (and if you have a new MacBook Pro you can do so using the Touch Bar).

Great Potential needs some TLC

Been looking for an app to jot quick notes while working, nothing fancy but something to invoke in notification center. Found scratchpad and love the UI, color and font of the application. I like having the option of both menubar and notification center to use app. I like also invoking touchbar to export to Notes App for iCloud syncing. There is some room for improvement and this could be a killer app:

Issues to fix scratchpad:

1)Notification Center Widget in High Sierra broken; cant type or do anytihing but view text. Sometimes text disappears; Scrolling doesnt work for large amount of text

2)When you click on menu bar icon to open scratchpad focus should be sent to the scratchpad to start typing

3)Ability to “pin” scratchpad with some translucency so its on the window while working in another app

4)Like other reviewer said, export to Notes is broken

5)Ability to adjust the font size

Simply Awesome

Thank you, for an app that actually is super simple and useful when one just needs to jot down some info down without having to bust out the note apps and text editors, just to capture a moment or stream of thought without it becoming an annoying, interrupting burden. I have in a permanent place in my notification center and a permanent icon located at the top with all of my other essentials. About to test the “touch-bar” integration. Your choice is Evernote or Mac’s Notes. I don’t use Evernote so let’s experiment with “notes”. Yep, one touch of a buttons sends it right to it! :)
Awesome. Great, useful app; if only there were more like this. that makes life life easier.
Thank you :)

Not worth the $1.99

The only worthwhile part of this app is the fact that it’s a NC widget. Functionally it’s useless. The font is huge and you can’t change the size or style. You can fit 8 lines of text before it scrolls down and you can only scroll using the arrow keys on the keyboard. So, since it’s just one note, not like other menu bar note apps that allow you to make multiple notes, you can end up with a very long note that requires almost a minute to scroll to the top or bottom. A lot of this would be solved if you could make the font smaller or change the ugly font that doesn’t fit with any other widget in the Notification Center. At the very least use the default MacOS font but the dev has already said he doesn’t intend to add the ability to change font style or size. I would be very surprised if this app got updated again.
