Eden Hazard has confirmed he will commit his long-term future to Chelsea by signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international, who has been at Chelsea since 2012, has been repeatedly linked with a stunning move to Real Madrid over the past two years.

Hazard has flirted with the idea of joining Real, often heaping praise on manager Zinedine Zidane, but has now finally confirmed he will put pen to paper on a contract extension at Chelsea.

He also said his new deal would come after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, another reported target for Real Madrid, signs his contract extension in west London.

Asked whether he would sign a new deal at Chelsea, Hazard told the Daily Mirror: ‘Yes. I think Thibaut first. Then I will sign.’

Hazard’s statement will come as a huge relief for Chelsea fans, who were becoming increasingly fearful he would leave to sign for La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old, who has won two Premier League titles, has two years remaining on his current contract and Chelsea are said to be willing to make him the highest paid player in England.

After missing the start of the 2017-18 campaign after undergoing surgery over the summer, Hazard has scored nine goals and contributed eight assists as Chelsea have moved to third in the league.
