The hopeful perception of America as a place of refuge and possibility loomed large in Peche Di's eyes, a Thai beauty queen, who upon settling in New York kept her transgender identity a secret until it became impractical.
Outing herself led to the creation of her modeling agency, Trans Models, NYC, which she founded as much to generate work for herself as well as other trans people. But, it was more than ambition that drove her entrepreneurial venture; the agency also aims to serve as a beacon to shed a positive light on the often misunderstood trans identity. Di also co-founded Teadate, a trans and trans-attracted dating site that offers a safe place for people in the community to meet and find love.
