Shia, Sunni scholars demand arrest of Shia Wakf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi

Lucknow: Ulemas belonging to Shia and Sunni demand immediate action against Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi for his comment against Madarrasa.

According to a report published in a Urdu Daily, the UP ulemas write a letter to the Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take immediate action against Rizvi to maintain peace in the country.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday called Wasim Rizvi a ‘buffoon’ and an opportunist for claiming that Madrasas bred terrorists.

Speaking to ANI, Owaisi added Rizvi had sold his soul to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

“Wasim Rizvi is the biggest joker, an opportunist person. He has sold his soul to RSS.

I challenge this buffoon to show one Shia or Sunni or Madrasa where such teachings are imparted. If he has proof then he should go and show it to the home minister,” he added.

Rizvi, earlier in the day, said that most of the Madrasas in the country were not recognised and the Muslim students studying in such institutions were moving towards terrorism.

Speaking to ANI, Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi asked, “How many Madrasas have produced engineers, doctors, IAS officers? Yes, but some Madrasas have produced terrorists.”

Rizvi’s assertion came after he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, claiming that Madrasas bred terrorists and efforts should be made to shift them into mainstream education.
