Oscars 2017: La La Land’s “City of Stars” Wins Best Original Song

Beating out Justin Timberlake, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Sting

La La Land has won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, for the track “City of Stars.” The song was written by Justin Hurwitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Hurwitz, Pasek, and Paul were all present at the ceremony to accept the award; Hurwitz also won the award for Best Original Score. “City of Stars” beat out songs by Justin Timberlake, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Sting in the Best Original Song category. Miranda would have EGOT’d had he won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
