Prison Break is returning to the small screen next month in a nine-episode revival series that will bring all our favorite prisoners back together for "one final escape." Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell star as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, alongside Sarah Wayne Callies (Sarah), Amaury Nolasco (Sucre), Rockmond Dunbar (C-Note) and Robert Knepper (T-Bag) as well as several new faces appearing in this new season. We've already seen from previous trailers for Prison Break season 5 that the gang are back together to get Michael out of a Yemen prison, and that the revival will premiere in April, but that's about all we know so far.
Now, a new trailer and poster for the revival have been released, with a strong focus on Michael and Lincoln, and a new tagline that suggests much of this season will not take place behind bars.
The trailer and poster were released by the official Prison Break Twitter account earlier today. The poster is captioned, "It's time for one last escape," and shows Michael and Lincoln in black, white and red. The poster tagline reads: "First, it was a prison. Now, it's a nation." The trailer is captioned, "Breaking out is just the beginning," and is thirty seconds long. Watch the trailer above and take a look at the poster below:
Both these tweets and the trailer focus on the idea that this season will see Michael getting out of prison fairly quickly, with more time spent trying to then get him out of the country as a fugitive. Compared to the original show, which took 22 episodes for the first break-out to happen, this would be a remarkably quick escape. It makes sense, however, to see Michael escape more quickly in this season so that he is able to spend more time on screen with the established characters.
We're interested to see how this works for the revival - it certainly seems like a good idea to get Michael working with his old escape-mates again ASAP since nine episodes is not a lot of time to build up his relationship with entirely new characters within the prison itself. This is also something a little bit different for the show, although large parts of the original series were also spent on the run. Lincoln's mention of the world changing is also an interesting addition, and suggests that we could see some cool new technology being used this time around.
However, this short trailer and poster don't give too much away in terms of new information - most of the scenes in the video have already been seen in previous promos, or are very generic prison/action/running away shots that don't tell us anything. It seems that Prison Break: Sequel is playing its cards close to the chest, and we're going to have to wait until April to see exactly what happens.
