A new documentary about Roger Stone, the political consultant and Donald Trump supporter, is heading to Netflix, which will launch it globally this spring.
The film, titled Get Me Roger Stone, directed by Morgan Pehme, Daniel DiMauro and Dylan Bank, is also scheduled to have its world premiere at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.
A longtime conservative partisan, Stone has earned a reputation as a master of the dark political arts. Having worked in the Office of Economic Opportunity during the Nixon administration, he was the youngest person called before the Watergate grand jury, and he went on to work for Ronald Reagan’s 1980 political campaign. He subsequently formed the political consulting firm of Black, Manafort and Stone in which he was partnered with former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
Stone’s relationship with Trump dates back to the 1980s. He initially served as a Trump presidential campaign adviser but left the campaign in August 2015, although he remains a Trump loyalist.
Stone’s and Manafort’s names surfaced in a recent New York Times story alleging contacts between Trump campaign officials and Russian intelligence officers, although both denied such contacts.
The Netflix announcement promised that the film will give “an up-close look into his rise and the transformation of American politics.”
The original Netflix documentary is executive produced by Blair Foster, Lisa Nishimura, Jason Spingarn-Koff and Adam Del Deo.
