Deasy Heads Up New Ed Publication, The Line

Mar 5, 2017

WRITE THIS DOWN: Typically, new magazines get started with an edgy approach to some issue. But these days are hardly typical.

Instead, a new publication, The Line, headed by former LAUSD Superintendent, John Deasy, proposes a different tack altogether: aiming for civil dialogue. Notes the first issue: "The apparent deep fracture in our country’s politic, and for that matter, nearly all other institutions including public education may very well stem from the distinct absence of the polite exchange of ideas and differing points-of-view."

The magazine aims to show up in print twice a year and more frequently online. Initial contributors to the first issue include former ed Secretary, Arne Duncan, former DC Chancellor Kaya Henderson and "Checker" Finn, president emeritus of The Thomas B. Fordham Institute.

Footing the bill is Frontline Education, a rapidly growing Pennsylvania-based company that serves up software for helping schools manage people.
