Commons:Attribution Generator
The Attribution Generator is a tool developed by Wikimedia Deutschland. The tool makes it easy to reuse images that have been released under Creative Commons licences on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. It is designed to help comply with these license conditions and simplify the re-use of freely licensed images. Thus, the tool leads you through a short dialogue and automatically compiles all relevant license information in to a so-called license notice for your individual use case.
Please note: The current English version of the Attribution Generator is based on a near-verbatim translation of the initial German text snippets, which were drafted with the copyright law of Germany in mind. Especially, the parts explaining legal concepts might thus differ from the copyright law situation of other countries. Thus, if checked by lawyers from other countries, the tool can easily be adopted by other Wikimedia organizations.
Do you want to translate the Attribution Generator to your language?[edit]
GitHub way[edit]
- Download the five text files (4 in HTML, 1 in JSON) from GitHub
- Translate them in your text editor (please beware all
<p></p>and similar snippets) - Create a new folder on GitHub with the correct language code (you have to have a GitHub account) and upload the translated files
- Then create a pull request for the repository
- Your translation files will be merged.
