In another thread a member reported stopping vaping, and that set me thinking about my journey.
I started vaping as a means to stop smoking. I always loved smoking and the taste of the tobacco leaf. Early into my vaping journey I discovered I like the natural taste of tobacco in a vape form more than I used to like it in the cigarette form. That makes me doubly glad that I eventually replaced the habit with something better. To me vaping isn't a habit as smoking used to be. I see/feel vaping as a newly discovered hobby...:D
I really can't see myself stopping vaping ever...unless something unforseen comes my way ofcourse. I'm a natural smoker...what more can I say :p
Anyway that's my story...
I would really like to know your thinking about vaping. Do you see it as temporary or a long term thing...?
Most smokers have the thought of quitting. I'm thinking its the opposite with us vapers...or not?
Don't need to be tobacco related ofcourse...;)

In all honesty, I have no indication that vaping is any less healthy than breathing in the Houston Smog, so I have no urgent need to quit. Will I quit? Maybe, maybe not. If I do it will likely be years from now and only if it gets too expensive or some new information changes the risk factors.

I chose to vape after quitting smoking. I’ve got a suite of neurological issues and nicotine helps with most of them. I originally quit not because I particularly wanted to but because I was getting too ill to smoke. Bronchitis, recurring strep, etc.. as soon as I heard about the existence of ecigs I was right on them.

I wanted to quit smoking, but knew I wouldn't be able to because I liked to smoke. When I started vaping I was overjoyed that I saw a way out of my smoking habit so for me it was more of a replacement. I do find I can go hours without a vape which I was unable to do with smoking. I guess we all vape for different reasons, but the important thing is that we are not smoking.

First, I’ll never stop vaping to return to smoking (I hope). Second, if I started vaping to stop smoking when I was in my 20’s I’d give careful thought based upon the information available at that time to stopping vaping after several years provided I would not return to smoking. At my age Any hope of avoiding some long term 30+ year risk of vaping is long gone for me so I don’t really think about it.

Note, as of now there’s no really good evidence to suggest long term risk, but I never like to rule out any possibility until all the experience is available.

I have no plans to stop vaping and if I was to stop vaping for some reason I would never pick up the Killer Sticks ever again. But this is just how I feel about it and the only way I could test that theory would be to stop vaping! That ain't happening though~! Recently when I was plowing for 12 hours straight I barely vaped even though I did bring multiple tanks/MOD's and 100 MLs of e-Liquids (Just In Case). That proves to me that I could stop because when I can't vape I just don't and no cravings like with cigarettes.

I have no desire to quit vaping but I can certainly go much longer without vaping than smoking, especially if not stressed and focused on something. It's nice.

I have absolutely no plans to quit vaping or even reduce my nic at this point. I told myself if I could get to "just" vaping, everything else would be secondary, and that is still my feeling. I think I may reduce my nic at some point, but I'm in no rush for that either.

With the age I am and the amount I smoked, vaping has restored my health enough that I would actually be scared to stop vaping as I'm fairly no extremely certain I would return to smoking cigarettes. I'm already going to still be at risk for smoking related consequences for some time, I see no reason to punish myself for successfully quitting by stopping vaping.

If I were younger and my smoking habit not so entrenched, I might consider it, although my brain finds nic useful for many reasons, and although my family has a heart attack history, it also has an Alzheimer's history and I would far rather drop dead of a heart attack than go on and develop Alzheimer's and die that way. My son did quit smoking, then quit vaping, but recently asked for a setup and some no nic flavors so he can vape sometimes when his friends do. I don't think he uses it every day, though. Either way, I see it as a great choice for him, but he didn't smoke for long and quickly switched to vaping...

I don't have any plans to quit vaping in the future. It got me off of smoking for good, and I really like vaping! I'm well stocked for the rest of my own lifetime and with enough to be able to help others, too.

The positive changes below in my health (since making no other changes except quitting smoking and vaping instead)...are enough to let me know that I'm personally much better off with vaping. Also, there have been no negative health effects from my vaping for slightly more than 4 years so far.

* No more evidence of my previously diagnosed mild COPD

* Osteoporosis has been downgraded to osteopenia

* Blood oxygen levels have greatly increased

* No more smoker's cough at all

* Doctor says my lungs sound totally clear, which they never have been before, while smoking 1-1.5 PAD for 42 years

My plan all along was / is to at some point stop vaping, be free of carrying around & fiddling with everything.

Started mid to high 30's nic mg/ml, tapered down to 3 - 4 mg/ml where I seem to be stuck.
Attempts to go lower increase consumption & spur cravings.
I have zero interest in vaping as a hobby, I have ample hobbies that I enjoy far more to occupy what little free time I have.

Sometimes get a little down about it, I figure if I smoked for 40 years it may take that long to be rid of it all.
Never once thought when I quit smoking & started vaping 5 years later I'd still be vaping.

I've been Thinking about things more and more Lately. Because I'm getting to the Point with Vaping like I did with Smoking at the 7 or 8 year mark. Still Enjoy it, but it is More just something I do.

In the Beginning, there were all kinds of things to Learn and Goals to Reach. DIY, Coil Building, RTA Mod-ing, Battery Tech, Mastering Mech Builds, etc. So many things to do! But I kinda Got there.

And there was always New Hardware on the horizon with the promise of a Better Hit or Performance. Because I always believed that there was the "Perfect" RTA or RDA or Mod out there for what I want. But I think I have Found them. So that kinda panned out.

So I dunno? Maybe 2018 will be the year I quit Vaping? Maybe Not?

Hard to say?

At my age, I'm not too worried about any adverse effects of vaping. Truth be known, I believe there are some benefits (neurological) to nicotine use. But not cigarettes. Vaping is my path to freedom, which I will continue to pursue for myself and those smokers I may educate. Love this forum!

Let's see.....how should I put this?

I tried lima beans once. Couldn't stand them! I stopped eating them.

I tried prime rib once. Loved it! I continue eating prime rib when I can.

Need I go on?

And as others have said, I don't have to worry about any possible, negative "long-term effects!"

I smoked for 45+ years. I made the switch from smoking to vaping 11/13/11 so just over 6 years ago. I still have 39 years to go to even out smoking vs vaping. I know myself well enough to know that if I stopped vaping, got rid of my vaping equipment and couldn't get more it would be just a matter of time before I would be back to smoking. I have assured that I will never be caught in that position.

anecdotal evidence....My older sister was intrigued by the fact that vaping worked for me. After a year of it working for me she decided she was willing to give it a try. A special Angel here on this forum sent her what she needed to get started. Low and behold....It worked for her too. In fact it worked so well, after about 6 months she no longer vaped either. fast forward a couple of years...the cravings came back but she had lost all her vape equipment in a move. Instead of calling me or just finding a vape shop she bought smokes

moral of this story...I will vape 'til the day I take my last breath 'lest the cravings come back as they have been known to do.
