Ball brothers go scoreless in top-level debut, a loss for Lithuanian team Vytautas

Spending most of their first top-level professional game in Lithuania on the bench, LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball  finished scoreless in their team Vytautas' 95-86 road loss to Saturday at Lietkabelis.

LiAngelo Ball (L) and Lamelo Ball warm up prior to a training session in Prienai, Lithuania.

The brothers of Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball didn't have much time to contribute, with 19-year-old LiAngelo (0-for-3 shooting) logging just nine minutes and 16-year-old LaMelo Ball (0-for-4 shooting) tallying just five minutes on the court.

Although the Ball brothers combined for 29 points on Tuesday in the Big Baller-sponsored showcase tournament — a five-game "friendly" series designed for second-tier teams — Vytautas coach Virginijus Seskus told ESPN before the game he wasn't sure how much he'd be able to play the teenagers in upgraded competition.

Saturday marked the team's first top-level pro debut. Vytautas entered the game in last place in the Lithuanian league with a 4-13 record. Lietkabelis is in fourth with a 12-6 mark.

Vytautas' next game is Monday, returning to the Big Baller Showcase at home against Lietuvos Rytas' second team.

The brothers signed with the Lithuanian team last month after LiAngelo withdrew from UCLA. He was suspended indefinitely following his arrest for shoplifting during a recent tour of China. That sparked a Twitter spat between their father LaVar Ball and President Donald Trump.
