What's so great about temp control?

I have different options on my vape hardware to choose, including temp control, but I don't really notice much of a difference in how it vapes.

I realize that temp control is a newer trend that more and devices have, but why do people like it, and what is to be gained from it?

I usually just keep my vape device on normal mode, where the only thing that I have to choose is what watt it operates at, and I usually have that at around 30 watts, which is what I find works good for me. The max I can do on my device is 40 watts.

I just recently picked up a TC mod and have yet to build anything for TC mode. As I understand it, TC allows you to set the temp at which you would like to vape allowing you to sett your wattage in such a way as to reduce ramp up time and cool down time of the coils themselves.

Being a mekkie for most of my vape life I use Heat Flux to determine the optimal build which will have great surface area, little ramp up time, quick(er) cooling based on the resulting wattage of my setup. Now that Ive got a regulated mod I still use Heat Flux as a form of TC but I have the advantage of building however I like(safely) and then setting the wattage accordingly.

On my device when I switch to temp mode, the only setting that I can set is the temperature. In C it's anywhere from 140 C to 315 C. I am not able to choose any watt settings when in temp mode. I'm not sure how it is on other devices.

I use temp control, 30 watts max, 400 degrees. In watts mode with the same setup I never go above 20 watts because I use an rda exclusively. Above 20 watts I get too many dry hits. With temp control I get a warmer vape and zero dry hits. Another thing I like is varying the vapor production. I take a lot of puffs but most of them are with the coil reletively dry. When I want a more intense vape just saturate the coil. The abiillity to vary the vapor production is how I manage to vape a lot but only use 4-5 ml per day.

If you are using a tank at low watts may be TC is optional. My style of vaping depends on temp control. I'd hate to be without it.

Are you sure you are using a coil that is made for TC? TC requires either Nichrome, Titanium or some variants of Stainless Steel. A kanthal coil cannot be used in TC mode which might be the reason you cannot set both wattage and temp.

I am using ceramic coils for the Target Mini. I believe that they're also steel.

I see that I have options for Nickel TC, SS TC and Titanium TC when choosing temp control.

When I have tried TC, I have used the SS TC mode.

Watts in TC are different. It's just setting a speed for reaching a set temperature. Too much watts - you can get a spill. Too low - you can wait forever for coil to warm up.
I am low wattage vaper, I used TC for convenience: I did not have to monitor a juice level in a tank. Empty tank was just stopping to produce vapor, no dry hits. Later I almost stopped using TC. May be if I decide to use all metal tanks I will use TC again. Or may be I'll just decide I love TC. Or not.

TC is like automatic transmission - easier, but less of control.

Though I haven't personally tried it myself yet, I have a TC mod on the way that supports TC with SS coils. I purchased it as I can't stand high-pg juices and the throat-hit sensation that comes with them, however whenever I do high VG I get a lot of dry hits which is both disgusting and unhealthy.

In that sense I am really looking forward to getting my TC mod. I already had one, but it only worked with Ti and Ni-200 which are reportedly unsafe, unlike SS316L, so I never ended up using it.

I take long draws. In wattage mode the vape just gets hotter, but with TC, I get a smooth consistent vape all the way through... :D
Every mod I have is in TC SS mode right now for this exact reason. Never get a dry/burnt hit even with a RDA. Now that I got a couple Hohm Wrecker G2's I can finally put all these spools of Kanthal back in rotation and try out this vape porn XXX mode using the FSK Curves.

This. Dry hit prevention is nice, but it's the consistency of the vape throughout the draw that keeps me in TC on almost all my tanks. I also like building in SS for everything as I don't have to worry about which tank has what metal in it. They can all be used for power or TC mode.

If you mean these, www.premiumecigarette.com/vaporesso-ccell-gd-replacement-coil-for-target-mini-pack-of-5/
I don't think those are tc coils.

Yes, those are the ones that I have been using.

If they're not for TC, then that would explain why I haven't noticed much of a difference.

It's not that big of a deal really, since I am content with using the normal mode and setting the watts, but I will do some more research into various coils that are compatible, and perhaps I will get a few coils that work with TC control next time, simply to test it out.
