The Triforce grants a wish to those who possess the three virtues of the goddesses: power, wisdom, and courage. If one doesn’t have the proper balance of virtues, the Triforce will split into three pieces. Only by reuniting all three pieces can the true power of the Triforce be obtained.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Complete Official Guide
No kingdom. No memories. After a 100-year slumber, Link wakes up alone in a world he no longer remembers. Now the legendary hero must explore a vast and dangerous land and regain his memories before Hyrule is lost forever.
Armed only with what he can scavenge, Link sets out to find answers and the resources needed to survive.
- According to ancient tales, the world was created by three goddesses.
- Before they left the world they created, the three goddesses created the Triforce—a magical object made up of three golden triangles—and entrusted it with the goddess Hylia.

About the author

Piggyback started in 1999 with the 148-page guide to Metal Gear Solid. Twenty-four years later, we find ourselves releasing the 500-page official guide to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in five languages and across four continents. In that 24-year period, we selected one game every year or so and invested all of our resources into creating its exclusive, complete official guide. We have the industry’s largest guide development team, composed of authors, designers, translators, map, screenshot and functionality editors.
Each new Piggyback project presents opportunities for innovation; be those chapter concepts, gameplay flowcharts, imaging technologies, data tables, no-spoiler solutions, instant-search tools, custom layouts, enhanced production values and new editions (collector’s, deluxe, expanded, and digital). Through close collaboration with the game company, each of our books becomes a tangible display of everything in the game, a collector’s item that serves as a companion which showcases the gameplay, creativity, and vision of the team.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2024I specifically bought this guide for locating all of the Korok Seeds. The map is much better than the god awful map in the TotK guide book. As for everything else in the guide, it's all there and then some. A lot of helpful tips and tricks. It's definitely one of the best player's guides that I own for one of the best games of all time.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2017I have 200+ hours in Breath of the Wild and have used this guide for the better part of the journey. The walkthroughs of the dungeons, side quests, and shrine quests are detailed and the double sided map showing shrine locations and Korok seeds is very helpful. Since Korok seeds are such a huge portion of the completion rate, I would have enjoyed much more detail around some of the harder to find seeds. The map was a great baseline and a small portion of the seeds are called out with a little more detail but I would have liked to have seen that detail expanded. I much prefer the map over watching walkthroughs online since you can go at your own pace. Because most of the Korok seeds are easily found once you get to the area you can drop a pin on your map in game rather than sitting through someone else walk around on a video which makes finding all 900 not quite as arduous.
Some of the tips and tricks are high level and I would have liked to have seen more but since the level of detail that could be provided is infinite I can't fault at all. As an example, the horse archery mini-game that rewards the Knight's bridle/saddle suggests you use a bow with quick shot which is helpful but could have also mentioned using bomb arrows or multishot bows as well. The item compendium has all items listed with pictures but on some of the armor it merely notes that it's "unlocked with corresponding Amiibo". Again, would have been nice to have just a little extra detail and know which Amiibo.
More than worth it at retail but the fact that I was able to buy it when Amazon ran it for $24 was well worth it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2017This is a beautiful book, and will go well with your Breath of the Wild collection. I have only skimmed through it and looked at areas I have already been to as to avoid spoilers, but the layout seems very well thought out. I will confirm that the font can be tiny, but there is so much information in this book that 10-12 point font would have doubled the size of it, and it's a hefty book already. The design philosophy behind this book is "at a glance," meaning you are able to look at the screen shots and get an idea without fully spoiling yourself with the full explanation if you like, which is well worth tiny font in my opinion. Tiny font becomes a gate with the intention of "do you really want the full answer? Work a bit for it then."
There are some minor inaccuracies however. A number of the armor upgrade crafting item lists are wrong. Perhaps Nintendo decided at the last second that the requirements were bad in the build Piggyback got and changed them (I can tell you that was the right decision if that's the case, as many armor are listed with increasing star fragment requirements in the guide). Otherwise a great and comprehensive guide, well worth a spot in your collection!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2017This review is of my initial impressions with the guide. If I feel something changes after using it extensively, I'll change my rating to highlight those issues. Just received my copy today and it looks to have everything I was looking for (and more). I am just over 50 hours into the game and plan on completing as much as possible on my own. Once I feel satisfied, this guide will be able to help me find what's remaining to get 100%. I am fully aware I am probably looking at at least 100 more hours of game-play to accomplish it WITH this guide. I can only imagine how much more it would be without a guide. Had some concerns from reading reviews about the small print but after a quick flip through I can put those concerns to rest. There is SO MUCH in this game and in this guide that the small print was probably necessary in order to keep it under 400 pages. I personally had no issue reading it so far. The hardbound version is absolutely stunning. Also seen some binding issues on the inside spine area from other reviewers, but mine seems to be holding up just fine so far. Plenty of screenshots and maps accompany the breakdown of each section of the game. My overall initial impression is that this is a perfect guide for what has been a near perfect game so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2017I'd give it 4.5 stars. It's not as nice as the set made by Prima when Twilight Princess HD was released. It is a thick book, which makes sense given the amount of everything to do in the game. However, I found the amount of information it provides to be a little thin, which is kind weird to say for a ~370-page book. In prior Zelda books, there would be details on the different weapons whereas in this one it simply provides a list of the weapons with basic details. A lot of this is again due to the fact there are much more weapon options. But I kinda wish there was more details on the best situations to use them. It has a ton of data, but it just feels shallow. I'm an experienced gamer and so I don't need it for the walkthrough, mostly. Which is why I'm disappointed it is thin on the extra details. That being said, the walkthrough is competent, if not a tad dull.
I'd say my biggest complaint is it looks and feels like a college textbook, not a game guide. From the build to the graphics, all of this says "Zelda 201" and not "guide to adventure." It uses small images and tiny font that makes it hard to read if your vision is poor. The white pages strain the eyes in bright light, especially if you've been running around in the dark on the game.
The included map is double sided, which is nice because you can choose to have all of the items marked or simply the major locations. It's massive, though and not something you can quickly reference. I kinda wish they had a smaller version
I removed another half star for it showing up a week after its release despite me preordering it as soon as it was listed on Amazon. Thus the 4-star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Um livro obrigatório

5.0 out of 5 stars Altamente recomendable

5.0 out of 5 stars Großartiger Wegbereiter für ein großartiges Spiel
