Twitter’s rarely discussed Windows app is getting a few updates today that make it a little more robust and useful for heavy users of the social network. You can now create tabs with different streams, similar to TweetDeck, among a few other new features. That and more in today’s news.
The most significant update to the Twitter app are the tabs. Each tab in the app can feature different types of streams, like your direct messages, lists, or profiles, similar to the way columns work in TweetDeck. And you can also have multiple instances of the app running if you prefer to have multiple windows with different feeds. Wix has purchased DeviantArt for $36 million. Wix is a simple website maker and DeviantArt is the online art community where, speaking from experience, you might have uploaded your Dragon Ball fan art when you were in high school. Luckily DeviantArt isn’t going anywhere; the site will continue to operate as it is, and users will be able to access Wix’s website tools to create their own sites. [TechCrunch]
Txt.fyi is a minimal publishing platform from Boing Boing’s Rob Beschizza. You enter text and then you click publish. There’s no tracking or analytics or cookies or user accounts. It does support basic Markdown if you want to add dramatic flourishes like bold words or italics.
