Despite Brexit, Silicon Valley VCs are pumping money into UK tech start-ups, report London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s promotional agency.

UK start-ups received £884.8m from Bay Area VCs in the first nine months of this year, compared to £342m in the whole of 2016, says the agency.
Major deals include Andreessen Horowitz’s investment in Improbable, and Union Square Ventures’ investment in Funding Circle.

Silicon Valley investors put £2.1 billion into UK start-ups between 2012 and 2017 – more than double the amount invested in Sweden, almost four times as much as in Germany.

Sherry Coutu, co-founder of Silicon Valley Comes to the UK, which promotes links between the two, said a strong relationship with the US tech industry was “more important than ever” after Brexit.

“They have different technologies and are solving slightly different problems, when venture capitalists come over they have an awakening about what’s possible,” she said.
