The Loved Ones Trailer

Lola wants to go to the dance! Over the weekend an official trailer debuted (via SlashFilm) for Sean Byrne's The Loved Ones, the cult horror audience award winner from last year's Toronto Film Fest. The film has been heralded as somewhat of a crazy new Australian cult classic in the works. FSR's Brian Salisbury said in his review: "I loved this film… The genius of The Loved Ones is that it knows how to use over-the-top horror elements to provide the necessary safety net for the tightrope walk between shock and entertainment." This trailer goes from bright and cheering to sick and sadistic in no time, but damn it looks crazy good. Check it!

Watch the official trailer for Sean Byrne's The Loved Ones from YouTube:

Brent's plans to take his dream date to prom are thwarted by a disturbing series of events that take place underneath a disco ball and include pink satin, glitter, syringes, nails, power drills and a secret admirer.

The Loved Ones is both written and directed by Australian filmmaker Sean Byrne, who is making his feature directorial debut after directing numerous short films. This premiered in North America at the Toronto Film Festival last year and also opened in Australia last summer. As far as we know, this still does not have a US distributor, so we're unsure when/if this will hit theaters. Visit the official website: thelovedonesmovie.com.

I saw The Loved Ones at last Torino Film Festival. No doubt that it is a very innovative film... an ironic horror. And probably Lola is the first female slasher of the history http://www.soloparolesparse.com/2009/11/the-loved-ones-lola-e-la-nuova-slasher-killer-tff27/

I don't get it...why does everybody dig this movie? It's a sick ass torture movie like saw/hostel/frontiers etc...why is everyone hooked for the loved ones? where's the difference to all the other gory bloody torture movies? Kinda looks exactly the same to me...

@20 Patrick, i feel the same way...maybe i'm not so into torture...although MISERY was a damn good movie...this trailer did show too much...i felt that they should've ended it with the nail to the feet or a bit more...
