Swansea City may, or may not, stay in the Premier League with new man Carlos Carvalhal at the helm.

But it certainly promises to be a colourful spell in the hot-seat for the former Sheffield Wednesday manager who will bring plenty of charisma to the job.

Carvalhal became famous in Yorkshire not only for the stylish football his promotion-chasing Wednesday adopted, but also for... well, let's call them some rather more eccentric sayings.

Newly-appointed Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal

In the video above, which followed a derby defeat to local rivals Sheffield United earlier this season, Carvalhal responds fiercely to criticism of his team by reaching into his pocket to take out a £20 note.

He asks a BBC reporter 'You know what this is?' before crumpling it, battering it and beating the cash with his fist.

Carvalhal holds it up to say 'Same value,' indicating his Wednesday side still had quality, despite the 4-2 home battering they had just received at the hands of their neighbours.

It was certainly an analogy with a difference, but by this stage the local media had become accustomed to Carvalhal's rather different way of approaching Press conferences.

Carvalhal speaks with passion and the Sheffield Star produced an article earlier this year where they cited some of the more 'interesting' sayings of the new Swans boss.

Here are some of them...

ROCK AND ROLL AFTER A 3-2 COMEBACK WIN OVER BOLTON

"In the first half they controlled the music of the game. They put on calm music and the team, the fans were listening to the music. We followed the melody of the opponents. We were not happy on the break.

We tried to put on different music in the second half. We put on a little bit of rock and we opened them up. We took risks and tried to win. With that kind of rock and roll, we could score goals."

THE MUSICAL MAKE UP OF A TEAM

"In an orchestra they have a saxophone, they have a piano and they have the drums. We have some players who must be the drums. You can’t have an orchestra that is just 11 people playing piano or 11 playing the drums.'

INJURED PLAYERS AND FOOD

"When we lose players who link the game at the same time, we miss something in the team. If we cook something you buy good tomatoes, good potatoes and good rice, but if you don't have the fish you get more potato. A potato cannot play the role of fish."

THE RUSSELL CROWE EFFECT AFTER GRINDING OUT A 2-1 WIN OVER BLACKBURN

“We can't always play opera when we are playing against gladiators, sometimes we must put clothes on like gladiators to achieve the points."

THE BEST PLAYER (COULD THIS BE RENATO SANCHES' CUE?)

"The lead singer is the one who shows the best performance when he is singing but he needs the others to do good music. Alone, the singer can do nothing. I like the Arctic Monkeys."

THE FANS' 'CARLOS HAD A DREAM' SONG

"When the game finished I loved the song, I was feeling like when soldiers come home from war after winning the war."

LIGHTS OUT! DEFENDING A LEAD AGAINST LEEDS

"When we went 2-0 up we closed the doors and windows very well. We didn't want to let any light inside our house. we closed everything."

STAYING AFLOAT AFTER A POOR RUN OF RESULTS

"Even with a storm, we put the boat in a good direction and I think the storm has gone."

AND WHAT THE CHAMPIONSHIP COULD BE LIKE (IF SWANS ARE RELEGATED)

"We can't sleep because, in the Championship, if you sleep for one minute the opponent will destroy you. So I am here to wake everybody up."
