Wales romped home to a 33-7 win over Italy in Rome , thanks to tries from Liam Williams, Jonathan Davies and George North.

It was the ideal start to the Six Nations campaign for Rob Howley and his team, but the nature of two of the try celebrations caused a stir on social media.

Williams and Davies were both seen raising their arm in a sprinkle-like motion after crossing the whitewash.

So what was it all about?

Jonathan Davies of Wales celebrates his try.

This is their inspiration for the celebration

The inspiration behind the celebration was internet chef Nusret Gökçe, who shot to fame on social media for his flamboyant style of cooking. A video emerged of the chef sprinkling salt onto a cut of meat and has since gone viral.

Thousands of others have imitated the 'salt bae' online and it seems famous sports stars are doing the same.

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck did the 'salt bae' after scoring for his team against Southampton in the FA Cup. The original video clocked up 2.4million views within 48 hours of being posted online.

And this was the reaction

Whether this becomes a regular trend among Welsh try-scorers remains to be seen, but it certainly provoked a reaction on Twitter as fans noticed the slightly strange celebration.

Some appreciated the comedic element, others were less keen.
