I know, I know — everyone should be leaving Jennifer Aniston out of the dissolution of Brad Pitt and Angelina's marriage. But Brad Pitt has reached out to his ex, according to Us Weekly, and you just have to, you know, acknowledge that before moving on with your day.
A source told Us that Pitt has (allegedly) "been texting" his ex. It's not exactly clear what they're texting about (maybe he wanted to see if she knew Moonlight going to take the Oscar all along??) but the magazine reported that getting her number in the first place involved a lot of effort. Reportedly, he found it through a "tangled web" so he could wish her a happy birthday.
"They started talking once he wished her a happy birthday," the source said.
And now, a poll: Would you text your ex 'happy birthday?' No? Not even if you were feeling a little bit vulnerable?
It gets a little bit murkier. The source apparently also said that Brad "has confided in Jen. Brad told her he's having a hard time with his split and they exchanged a few texts reminiscing about the past."
Hmmmmm.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt back in September. The couple released a joint statement regarding their divorce in January, which said: "The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues. The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification."
Separately, Jolie spoke out about the divorce in an interview with BBC News. "I don't want to say very much about that, except to say it was a very difficult time and we are a family and we will always be a family, and we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it," she said.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston looked stunning at the Oscars alongside her husband, Justin Theroux, and she's probably not too deeply invested in the Brangelina saga (or any alleged texts) at all. And Theorux, according to Us Weekly's source, is "OK with them being friends."
For what it's worth, Aniston's alleged return texts might have been sent just because she's not the type to ignore someone or pull a "new phone, who dis" move — according to Us's source, she just "wants to be nice." For all anyone knows, she could have just been saying, "thanks," "k," and "cool," which, yes, are texts, but are also cruel daggers of ice, as well!
