So I discovered Rick and Morty in the last year and I’m now hooked on this fantastic show - but it’s only got two frikkin’ seasons! The third one is on the way but I’m jonesing for more, so I checked out this comic, Lil’ Poopy Superstar, and ooh, wee, it’s no substitute.

Summer and Mr Poopybutthole go on an adventure to Mr PB’s home world and you quickly realise why the show isn’t called Summer and Mr Poopybutthole. It’s a weak ass story about Mr PB being a major celebrity that’s not really very funny or interesting and Sarah Graley draws the characters so they look weirdly small (Tiny Rick!).

There are some Rick and Morty backups but they’re not that great either. Well, at least Season 3 will start soon.

Not a bad continuation of the show. And more Mr. Poopybutthole is a good thing. The story focuses on Summer and Mr. Poopybutthole as he returns to his home dimension with short backup stories featuring Rick. My one complaint is that everyone looks like they are from Beevis and Butthead. Comic books can typically take liberties with the art unless you're based on a cartoon. Then I want the art to look like the cartoon.

Received an advance copy from Oni Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Summer is the least developed character in the Rickiverse so it is fun to see her get a story of her own. Jealous of her little brother's adventures, Summer finds herself on an adventure of her own when Mr Poopybutthole appears through a portal and asks her to come to his universe, where he is such a famous movie star that the pressure is literally threatening to kill him. Ooo-wee!

It's quite flimsy and leans heavily on the tv show without adding a huge amount of innovation. Fans of R&M, however, will be happy to have a tasty morsel to tide us over until season three. The rest of the family have small interstitial stories to pad things out.

I love Sarah Graley, who wrote and drew this, and I love Mr. Poopybutthole, so it was kind of a must-read. Oooh wee, it was cute.

Rick and Morty- Lil Poopy Superstar is a graphic novel based on the Rick and Morty animated series. It is , in essence, a long episode put to book format. This immediately means that anyone not familiar with, or fond of, the animated series. If you fall into one of these two categories, then this is not a book that will have much value or make sense to you.

If anyone remembers the episode (Season 2?) where Mr. Poopybutthole was shot and killed? This is a sequel of sorts. It seems Mr. PB is not dead. He needs help and has decided to ask Summer (the only one of the family that didn't shoot him). Summer travels to PB's home planet- it seems that PB is a superstar. Everybody loves him and has been looking for him since he's been MIA. PB doesn't want any of this..so what follows are the misadventures of Mr. PB and Summer.

If you're looking for a good laugh and are fans of the series-you will enjoy this. If you are not-then this is likely not for you. The artwork, humor and inside jokes are the same as the series. This isn't anything amazing nor is it a brilliant piece of art. No it is what it says it is. A Rick and Morty adventure. Thus for staying true to what it is- 3 stars.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Kupkazpupki Superstar to swego rodzaju sequel.
Grafika, humor i żarty są takie same jak w serii Rick and Morty.

'Rick and Morty" Lil' Poopy Superstar Vol. 1' by Marc Ellerby with art by Sarah Graley and Mildred Louis is my second graphic novel based on a series I'm not familiar with. I didn't mind the first one, but didn't care much for this one.

Summer Smith is jealous of her brother Morty and his relationship with his grandfather Rick. They have all the fun (or so Summer thinks). When she gets a chance to help out a strange alien named Mr. Poopybutthole, she takes it. What follows is a series of adventures where the reader doesn't know if the character wants to be found because he's famous, or found because he is the object of murderous rage. Summer gets to be a hero, but will that be enough to make her grandfather notice her?

The character's name is pretty dumb and the reader knows it because it is used over and over again, as some sort of blunt trauma joke. There are some things to be said about the nature of celebrity here, but they get buried in tasteless moronic humor. I was not impressed.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Oni Press, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

An animated TV show comes to print with a main character named Mr. Poopybutthole seeking the help of a redhead named Summer Smith (because everything’s better with alliteration).
Even though I’ve never seen this, it doesn’t require a lot of background. Mr. Poopybutthole is well aware of what he is—at one point he shouts, “I’m a changed butthole!”—and speaks with a Suthin’ accent. He likes to say “Ooo-wee!” On the other hand, he has an inflated sense of self, with lines like, “I had to put all this charisma and flair to good use.” I already felt sorry for Summer at the start, but it only gets worse and worse for her, because we all know redheads are never allowed to win.
*Team High Five!* Space ice cream!
This would no doubt have been better with previous familiarity with the TV series, especially toward the end when family jealousies erupt. It’s all pretty silly, but that kinda works to its advantage. It was okay, but nothing I’d go out of my way for.
A few pages of creator bios at the end.

While it's nice to have a series focus on Summer rather than Rick and Morty, I'm not sure the story told here really justifies itself. Mr. Poopybutthole didn't actually die, and Summer must help him reconnect with his homeworld, where he is a star. This leads to prison, gunfights, evil agents and the power of friendship. None of it was particularly memorable, aside from cringing every time his name is used. There are a few decent moments, and some of the back-matter stories get a laugh, but all told this is a pretty forgettable volume.

Not bad. More PG than anything typical of R&M, and it seems appropriate for the title. I'm not a fan of the artist's style and wouldn't recommend any of her other works, but this was fine for this title.

The story was amusing but more devoid of substance than any other volume of this comic that I've read. Huge focus on reaction shots and symbolic representation of everyone being a "full-time cutie," which is what I dislike about the artist and her particular subculture.

PB and Summer adventures. It's kind of funny but I like when Summer is being more confident and less insecure about herself. There's some side stories with Rick and the other family members. Going to a field with Morty, mall monster with Jerry and Beth, and ice cream with Jerry.

Overall, it's not as strong as the regular volumes or show but it was alright.

Mr. Poopybutthole needs help and asks Summer to assist him. He has to return to his home planet and correct a problem. Meanwhile, Rick fears that he might not be asked to the prom. Don’t ask!

This collects the five issue mini-series and would easily fit into the animated series. Written by Sarah Graley, creator of Kim Reaper.

I was very happy to see Mr. Poopybutthole emerge in a comic, as he is my favorite character in the TV show. But this is so tame, proper and not extraordinary as compared to the TV show, nothing in it made me run around the house and scream "Owee" like the show did. A nice addition to the fandom but not much more.

I didn’t like how this one was drawn as much as some of the other titles. And while it was nice to learn more about Mr. Poopybutthole, the story just didn’t seem to fit well into the R&M universe. Maybe these comics came out before the third season. Still, these comics are what’s getting through the long, dark teatime of the soul until the premiere of Season 4!

An okay spinoff story.

The artwork takes a little getting used to as it's not the same as the ongoing series and isn't quite as sharp.

Honestly I think the mini adventures with Rick hit the mark more than the main story which although adds depth to a underused character just isn't that satisfiying.

I really wanted to love this because I love Summer and she deserves her turn in the spotlight, but overall the story was pretty weak and I didn't care for the art style either. Still, it was nice to see Summer saving the day for once!

Finally, the Summer/Mr. Poopybutthole teamup everyone has been clamoring for. When Rick was involved, he tended to spout catchprhases (wubbalubbadubdub etc.) but thankfully he wasn't the focus of most of the story.

This reads like decent fan-fiction. Summer and PB are the stars but the few panels featuring Rick are what really bothered me. The characterization just seemed off. Overall, entertaining but missing the bite of the series and the inventiveness of the other books.

If you like Rick and Morty at it's goofiest you'll probably like this one too. It's a cute little murder story& Grailey's art style fits it well (she does the Summer story line art). I didn't particularity care for the Rick interludes. Overall, fun but not life changing or anything.

Fills the void, in my head when reading they have the voices. Well written and works close to the feel of the show.
Here, Mr. Poopybutthole didn't die and chooses Summer to help him with something from his home planet.
But there is some typical hijinks from the rest of the family as well.

Rick And Morty

Mr. Poopybutthole is a great named. One of my favorite characters after Rick And Morty of course. Still playing catch up of the show since I started watching the show and became an instance fan. Can't wait to read the next book.

Mr. Poopybutthole (never one of my favorite characters) asks for Summer's help in an adventure. Summer eagerly obliges, though she may be in over her head when she lands in jail and is slated for execution. (The really painful kind.) An okay tale, though the overly cutesy artwork drove me batty.
