I've been vaping for ~5 years now, but am set in my ways with my BilletBox for the last year and a half or so...

Because of this, I haven't paid attention to what has come out.

I have a co-worker wanting to vape. I know little to nothing about decent starter gear anymore. I don't want her to end up with an old school ego, but she isn't exactly capable of rebuilding coils and things either. So I'm looking for a good tank that has replaceable coils. I can handle the mod aspect of it, but as far as what tanks are decent these days...I'm lost because I haven't tried any in so long.

Anyone help me out?

It really depends on what she's looking for. If she's a former smoker or looking to quit, maybe start with something like a starter kit from V2 or Halo. Or maybe an ego style like something from Joyetech or Kanger. If she wants a tighter draw and something that vapes like an analog, try an Evod. If you/she thinks she might be more into cloud chasing, try a Kanger Subvod. It would probably be a good idea to stay away from box MODs and the like while she's still new to vaping.

Since you can handle the mod part...I have and use any/all of these tanks that take a factory-made coil, and I'm a lady vaper, too. They're easy to replace the coils in, not prone to leaking, and the coils don't cost an arm and a leg:

Aspire Nautilus Mini
Kanger Toptank Nano (easy-peasy topfill tank)
Protank II Mini
Protank III Mini

I also use many of the older Innokin 16D clearomizers. I love them and will always use those in addition to any other tanks and RBAs I have and use.

She has used my BilletBox (I use a Billet Bridge in it) and my buddy has an older Kayfun that he uses. She likes both. So a tighter draw is preferable. It's just the rebuildable part I don't think she cares for. I don't really want to start her on the whole eGo/evod thing because when me and those I know used those, we ended up going back to cigarettes.

She's wanting something similar in size/shape to my friend's Nemesis/Kayfun setup.

Kanger Subvod Kit has a 1300mAh battery with a matching Toptank Nano 3.2mL tank on it that's topfill. Also has airflow control so she can adjust the draw. Recharges with a Micro USB port on the bottom, and you can vape while charging (passthrough capability). Can use subohm coils of 0.2 and 0.5ohms, and/or 1.2 or 1.5ohm coils. Also comes in some "lady" colors, too, besides just the standard black and SS...if that matters.

This isn't where I bought several kits from, (got mine on sale elsewhere), but this page gives great info. about the kit:

I've been slowly nudging my wife to start vaping for a year or so now. Hopefully I can add some info.

Draw style? MTL or DL, tight or airy draw?
Form factor, this seems to be kind of a big deal for the newest vaper.
True desire to move away from the cigarettes.

If you're buying, probably a handful of different disposables will be enough for her to determine if she wants to continue on the vape journey.

GL!

What is the tank that goes on the subvod?

And do the heads come in something higher resistance? (around 1.2ohms)

For the mod, I'm going to get her a mechanical. It's simple and she can swap batteries easily (being able to swap batteries is a must for her....she smokes a LOT lol). She really like the Nemesis, so I'll go something similar. Me and my buddy have already schooled her on battery safety and the like.

It's the Toptank Nano that comes on the Subvod. And if I'm not mistaken, you can get the coils in a higher resistance than the .5 that comes with it. I'm pretty sure I've seen at least a 1.2 SSOCC for it.

The Toptank Nano comes on the Subvod. The SSOCC coils come in 0.2, 0.5, 1.2, and 1.5 ohms. The OCC coils will also work in it, and come in 0.5, 1.2, and 1.5ohms.

I'm a toodle puffer and I'm partial to Joyetech tanks like the Tron-S or the Ego One V2. These use a CLR coil that is perfect for my style of vaping. I also like the GS Air style from Eleaf that use a 1.5 ohm coil. I also still use Protank and Evod style tanks.

Most of the Subox Topbox style are too harsh, put out to hot a vapor for my taste.

I second this. There are some good $ on ego one kits right now. Simple one button push. They are not like the pen style egos. The mega diameter is 22mm, so they are mod-like in function and appearance.

For a replaceable battery, the pico is popular for a reason. The Mello III tank takes a wide variety of coils including 1.8 Tritons.

Reasoning?
I second this, a mech is better suited for rebuildable rda's then drop in coil tanks for one, second, although you may think a mech is a simpler device, it also has no safety features, and if she wants more power eventually , she would then need to build lower and lower in resistance to achieve that. With Building lower and using more power, requires more knowledge about battery safety which is very important. Using drop in coils with specific resistances equals a set wattage which may be too high or too low for her and in that case, she cannot adjust it unless she changes her resistance and if they are drop in coils, she may not be able to find a coil with a resistance that suits her, for these reasons, a regulated device is much much better
