Hello everyone,

First of all, i'm sorry if im posting this in the wrong section. I don't know if i should have posted this in the RTA section? But i've seen a similar thread here so...

I've had an authentic iJoy Tornado RTA (full size) for ~6 months now. I'm not new to rebuilding. I haven't had any problems with it until recently (2 weeks maybe). My build is dual 316L SS claptons 26/32, 3mm ID, 8 wraps, ohming out at ~.36. I run it on istick tc100w at 70-80w (now with preheat after the latest fw update).

I vape mostly VG heavy diy juices (85%) and i currently have 6 of them in rotation with various nic% (no more than 5 mg/ml), from completely clear lemonade juice to darker chocolate one.

The problem is, it stopped wicking correctly. After i wick it and prime it, fill up the tank, it works fine. But there are no bubbles (there used to be atleast a bubble after every puff), and eventualy the wicks run dry and "hello dry hits" cough. What i do is close the afc and puff on it without firing. It pulls the juice in and that solves the problem, but only temporarily.

I tried everything: rebuilding, cleaning, checking and switching the seals (everything is airtight), upping the power, lowering the power, tc, tcr, power mode, preheat off/on, even bypass mode. And rewicking. Lots of rewicking. I tried almost every wicking method i could find on youtube, and what i could think of myself. I tried more cotton, less coton, fluffing, not fluffing, scottish roll (i have both cotton bacon and chinese organic cotton pads), pushing it slightly through the juice holes, pushing it into the chamber, lowering the coils, lifting the coils, virtually everything i could think of that made sense (even if it didn't).

Today i rewicked for 5th time this week and still no luck. I really need some help, because i'm running out of options. I really love this rta and it worked flawlessly up till now. Even in the winter at -10°c it wicked, so it's not the temperature or pressure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

TL;DR: I have wicking problems on my Tornado RDTA and need help.

You said you've tried tc? Should definitely prevent dry hits. Make sure all your connections are clean and tight, the correct tc mode set, the mod not set to too high of a temperature, and the resistance read with the coil, mod, and atty at room temperature.

thank you for replying.

yeah, i tried both SS TC and TCR for 316L (setting from steam engine), and vw (powe rmode). i dont think its the temperature. it works while the wicks are wet, in all modes. but the wicks dont suck in new juice, thats the problem, and as soon as the wicks are dry, dry hits start. i can even see the wicks getting white (dry) through the juice holes.

i am really stumped.

That's weird. Tc should definitely stop dry hits if working correctly. The vapour production and flavour will decrease as the wick dries out, but the wick shouldn't burn or singe.
