Ronnie Dayan on his way to Muntinlupa RTC

The convoy escorting Ronnie Dayan, the former driver and bodyguard of Sen. Leila de Lima, is on its way to the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court early Friday morning as of posting time, GMA News' Marisol Abduraman reported on Unang Balita.

 

Ronnie Dayan was arrested in his home by the urbiztondo police last night.

The convoy left Urbiztondo police station in Pangasinan around 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

Dayan was arrrested at his residence in Sitio Aplaya, Barangay Galarin in Urbiztondo town on Thursday evening after the Urbiztondo police received a copy of the warrant via email.

The arrest is based on the warrant issued by the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court in relation to drug charges and his alleged role in the drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison during the time De Lima was secretary of justice.

Pangasinan provincial director Senior Supt. Ronald Lee has confirmed that Dayan will be brought to the Muntinlupa RTC.

He told GMA News that he does not know where he will be detained and that he was concerned over his safety.

Dayan voiced hope that he be detained in a safe place.

He remained calm as he boarded the mobile patrol car that would bring him to Muntinlupa. However, he became emotional when his child embraced him and cried. — with a report from Amita Legaspi/BAP/KG, GMA News
