Hello All!

Long time member returning.

I've recently purchased a Uwell Crown and it's an absolute babe to vape. I am finding however that I'm going through an awful lot more juice than before. Because of my young child, my forgetfulness & my partners paranoia, I'm not allowed to brew my own. Any tips for reducing the consumption? Would a higher VG juice last a bit longer? I'm currently using the Crown at around 75-80w on a .25 prefab. Never enjoyed .5 coils in my iJust 2 or iJust S & found them pretty poor in my iSub (the tank that comes with the Coolfire IV TC100) so I haven't considered that. I know the obvious answer is vape less but I actually am now I've jumped from a 30w ADV to running at 80w.

I would never recommend deceiving your other half but is the paranoia based around her and your young-uns safety?
If so, you could talk to her and brew it up in a friends house?
Keep your mixing gear there.

Remember to not forget your gloves! ;)

That's the cost of high power vaping, Lewis. More power, bigger clouds, more juice to make those clouds.

Well I'm currently regulated to the bedroom due to a "girls night" and it fogged up pretty damn quick so not complaining in that sense. Can't stop tasting the flavors that my regular old setup never showed me!

Lower wattage,,higher resistance. Don't like?
Come to some accommodation with your S.O..

That's what I feared... Why did I pick a stubborn one! That and I'd probably poison myself....

That requires friends that DONT have little ones. All the "options" had kids within a 3 month space of my own xD

I can't give recommendations on forgetfulness. But, I have a 3 yr old that is with me every day. I do DIY and coil building and I have all my gear and liquids safely stored on the top shelf(dedicated) in a locked closet in my bedroom. My Nic is kept in a metal lock box in the freezer. All this stuff is handled only when my daughter is with her mother and I make sure to be diligent about clean up and then of course storing it all properly again.

Im just wondering if you can somehow work with your partner to figure out a way to DIY and make sure that you make safety the number 1 priority.

I DIY with younguns around, I keep everything on a high shelf in a locked closet and hidden in the freezer. I mix when the kids are asleep so they don't get curious about anything I'm doing and all juice is in childproof bottles. Maybe try to work out a compromise with your partner? It's possible to keep everyone safe and DIY. Otherwise, lower wattage and higher resistance are your best bet. ;)

Might be time to try and have a conversation then. It's mostly to do with living in such a small house that we don't have a table anywhere. Just food prep areas and a few surfaces in the living room. Is mixing DIY rather hard to start with or simple?
Pretty simple. Here is a link to a post in the DIY juice section outlining mixing by weight. I mix in my kitchen on the counter. Mixing By Weight: Basics 101

It's rather simple. You could use a folding table also, like a card table and hose it off outside when finished. I use a kitchen scale in grams mode. I mix about 100ml each batch.

Recipe varies, but here is an example:

4-5 grams of 10% nicotine.
10 grams of flavoring.
Fill the rest with VG/PG.
Stop in the middle and switch if you want around 50/50

Rinse off bottle, clean the scale. No funnels, I just pour bottle to bottle.

Depends :)

It can be VERY simple. I always try new flavors solo, so I know what they taste like. If you start with a multi-flavor blend and don't like it, if you don't know what each tastes like, it's pretty hard to modify.

The only critical part is the dilution of your nic to the strength you want. That does need to be precise. I actually mix my working "base" just higher in nic than I want, and just lower in PG than the final ratio I like. (Most flavors come in PG.) Then just measure out my flavor for the size batch I'm making, top up with my working base, done.

I do mix in the kitchen, next to the sink. And spills can then be quickly cleaned up. Even 100 mg/ml nic, if splashed on fingers, can be quickly rinsed off. While it is "skin absorbable", it takes time. DO be careful to not get it in your eyes!

You can also YouTube "DIY ejuice for beginners" or something along those lines to watch videos of the process.

It can be as simple as measuring all your contents in a single syringe and putting it into a bottle, shaking it up and vaping. Or it can be as complex as setting up a full on chem lab in your basement and going full on mad scientist and evaluating the merits of 20 different stirring methods. Basically, its as easy as you want it to be but there are many rewards in treating it like a craft that can be honed and perfected!

Guessing the chemical handling side would become much safer if I dropped nic though? Also guessing this would just further simplify crafting to refining flavours.
Yes, nicotine is a poison but so are a lot of other household products. I work with 100mg/ml nicotine but don't fear handling it at all. In the event of skin contact I wash it off and go on about my mixing. You can wear gloves and protective eyewear as a precaution if it worries you. I hide my nic in the back of the freezer behind frozen veggies (because I know my kids won't ever touch them, difficult location to get to and, well, vegetables) but a small lockbox is also an option. I choose to use 100mg/ml because a bottle of it will last longer than a whole bottle of 6mg/ml.

For me, vaping without nic isn't on the horizon ;)

Mixing without it would remove most all the safety risks, yes, but if you're then going to add it later, it will change the final flavor.

As @MthompLmt says, it's really not that big a deal if you get a bit on you while mixing. Rinse off and continue. I don't wear gloves, and my normal glasses provide enough eye protection for my comfort level when mixing down. (And I do mix next to a source of running water ;) )

Your biggest concern, rightfully so, is to keep the kids out of it. Kids will eat anything. So under lock and key when not out for use makes a lot of sense.
