-As is mentioned in many reviews this wine fridge DOES NOT HAVE A 28 BOTTLE CAPACITY unless all the bottles are perfectly uniform and my experience is that most are not. I uploaded some pictures showing that the majority of our 750 ml wine collection has a slight taper to the bottles which causes them to be a little wider at the top. There is not space between shelves for this taper so the wine bottles end up tightly packed making it a chore to get to one that is not on top shelve. An extra 2 inches of height or staggering the bottles would defiantly solved this. I was able to fit the slightly longer bottles with no problems.-The LED light at the top is just a tiny led that only shines on the top two so if that is important to you this probably isn't your fridge.-Also mentioned by many reviewers the temp is slightly higher in this than the indicator reads. We just turned it down an extra 2 degrees and hope during summer this doesn't become a problem.If you can get passed the CONS the Positive aspects are it is very quiet, looks nice and so far works. If it wasn't such a pain to repack and return we would have on account that it doesn't fit the bottles as it should. To fit the bottles we had to stack the wine from the bottom to the top installing one shelve at a time.

    On a positive note this is a very styled and fairly large fridge that is compact enough to fit in tight spaces. I use mine to store a combination of beer, wine, champagne and sodas and with the exception of champagne they all fit quite nicely.

    The issue that I've experienced is that at low temperatures (39 ( the lowest setting) to 43 degrees Fahrenheit) the fridge's cooling system makes loud noises - almost like the compressor's going to die. I have mine in a garage that has constant 62 degree temps year round so it's not that the unit is struggling or anything. I was using it to store some bacterial cultures (another story - cultured butter starters) that ask for very low temps and it couldn't handle it. If you're looking for REALLY chilled beer / wine this may pose an issue. Don't know if it's a problem with mine, or a general design deficiency

    Bought this Firebird after doing some research. I have used a STP 28 bottle wine cooler prior to this and ran out of room in it. The new Firebird runs close to temp. setting - only 1 degree higher than setting, so pretty close inside to temp. setting. I think i remember reading that it is a little noisy. I do not find it so, my old STP is noisier and runs more, although I've had that in service for years without and issues. In any event, the guts on this unit seem fine. OK, the big knock that many wrote about it the shelving. I took a chance, despite the negative shelving comments. There is legitimacy to the negative comments. The wood shelves are a bit flimsy. I would not recommend them if you are buying non-standard, bordeaux bottles and the like. You will have to take out a shelf and lose 4 slots. Also, you do have to be a bit careful not to pull the shelf out too far. I suspect you would have 4 wine bottles hitting the ground, but if you know that and take reasonable care when sliding the shelves out, you should be OK. Overall, I like the unit. Its quite and keeps good temperature. If you are one to be careful/gentle when placing bottles in or taking them out, you won't have a problem. If you are a high-end wine collector, you will want to go with a higher end unit, its that simple. If you want an economical model that has no shelf hassle, go with wire shelving. I'm satisfied with the purchase. I would give it a 3.5 star if I could, but it's better than a 3.

    Nice cooler but it does not work from day one. Set it to any temperature, lower or higher and in 10 mins shuts down and displays the set temperature. The peltier units cools but the sensor shuts it off. The unit arrived well packed and shows no exterior damage but it does not cool! This was tested by hand and face inside the cooler and of course with a precision temperature and humidity thermometer. I have had to return it and the seller will pay $3.99 for shipping the unit back. This would be OK if for example Injustbdid not like it or something like that but for a dead-on-arrival unit, I presume not checked before departure, the vendor or manufacturer should compensate the buyer not only formthe full return costs but a gift for the underserved inconvenience, like do not bother to return it and will refind you in full and next time we will make sure our units are fully functional before they leave the factory and the seller! But I guess we do not live in Wonderland, just the US of A.
