MANILA – Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres arrived in Manila on Tuesday for the 65th edition of the international pageant.

Miss Universe president Paula Shugart previously confirmed to ABS-CBN News that Torres will sit as judge both in the preliminary competition and the coronation event set on January 30 in Manila.

Filipinos can expect to see more of Torres even after the Miss Universe pageant as the Puerto Rican beauty is back with Manila Genesis as one of its talents.

Torres visited the Philippines in 1994 to crown her successor in the international beauty contest. The country’s Miss Universe representative at the time was Charlene Gonzales, who finished in the Top 6.

She went on to become a celebrity in the country, starring in movies with Aga Muhlach and Cesar Montano, among others.

Torres is also one of the original hosts of the ABS-CBN variety show “ASAP” along with Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez and Ariel Rivera, and was once dubbed as the Philippines’ “Dancing Queen.”
