This has been and remains the mantra of most EFSS vendors in the market. Doesn’t have to be true when you use ShareFile. With ShareFile you can choose to keep your data within the content repository of choice, not worry about migration and yet enjoy the advantages of secure file sharing. No pain, so much gain!
ShareFile believes in the fragmented world of data and the arduousness of having one single data repository as the single source of truth. Keeping this reality in mind, ShareFile came up with its Connectors technology a few years ago that provides a single pane of glass to multiple data sources. In a way it is a window to the world of disparate data. Whether it is the legacy content management systems like SharePoint, Documentum or even the traditional Windows Network Shares, ShareFile has made access to those data sources possible across any device. Later, the connectors universe expanded to include data sources in the cloud such as OneDrive, Box, DropBox, Google Drive, etc.
But ShareFile wasn’t done yet. It made sharing files from on-premise connectors such as SharePoint and Network Shares happen. ShareFile brought the seamlessness and ease of file sharing into the world of closed, hard to use legacy systems, enhancing the user experience around interacting with content in third party systems.
The second half of 2016 witnessed continued innovation in the realm of sharing files from connectors. While sharing files from legacy systems enhanced the user experience, ShareFile introduced sharing files from cloud connectors such as OneDrive, SharePoint Online, DropBox etc, thereby enhancing the security experience around these less secure systems. ShareFile made it possible to edit link permissions and apply DLP policies to files being shared out of a OneDrive or a DropBox.
ShareFile makes sharing files from connectors even simpler. After accessing the connector, users can now generate a direct link (URL for SharePoint and File Path for Network Shares) and share it with another recipient. The recipient would of course need to have the right permissions to access that link. This real-time sharing offers another convenient way for connector users to share files without having to maintain a duplicate copy in FileBox; it’s a great way to save some space.
