“Full Frontal” host Samantha Bee is planning to hold her own dinner the same night as the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, TBS announced on Monday.

The “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” will take place April 29 at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C.

“Executives at TBS offered their full support of the gala by nodding politely and then muttering under their breath as we turned around,” Bee said. “The evening is sure to bring plenty of surprises, music, food, and laughter — and if you’re not careful you just might learn something. Specifically, you’ll learn how screwed we’d be without a free press.”

All proceeds for “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” will go to benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists.

“We’re really doing this,” Bee said. “This is not a joke.”

Back in November, TBS renewed “Full Frontal” for a second season. The network also announced that the show would move from its Monday time slot to Wednesdays, which began on Jan. 11. The show currently reaches an average of 3.3 million viewers per episode across multiple platforms and ranks as one of television’s top three late-night series with adults 18-49.

“Full Frontal” is executive-produced by Bee, her husband Jason Jones, Jo Miller, Miles Kahn and Tony Hernandez.
