Amref Health Africa (formerly African Medical Research Foundation) is the premier African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. With a focus on women and children, Amref Health Africa strives to overcome the most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, clean water and sanitation and surgical and clinical outreach. Amref Health Africa has offices in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, South Sudan, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda as well as in Europe and North America. The organization employs over 1,000 people.
Amref Health Africa is part of the WASH Alliance International (WAI), a multi-national consortium of over 100 partners worldwide. WAI works together with local NGOs, governments and businesses to make sure everybody on this planet has sustainable access to water and sanitation. Amref Health Africa has a lead role for the WAI Ethiopia programme and therefore would like to recruit a WASH Alliance technical advisor for its WASH Alliance project in Oromia regional state. The job holder will be based in Addis Ababa and reports to Amref
Purpose of the Job:
The main purpose of the job is to technically advise and facilitate processes, with an emphasis on alliance building, getting the right players around the table, developing a common vision and a shared programme. His/her main task is to technically advise and facilitate the different steps of the WAI inception phase and potentially the implementation phase
A. JOB OBJECTIVE
Overall technical advice and facilitation of the project inception phase including implementation of the project inception activities, reporting and monitoring.
B. MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
C. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
· Technically advise and facilitate the different steps of the inception phase and ensure timely completion of the steps.
· Technically advise and facilitate alliance and trust building process.
· Promotion of WASH Alliance vision and mission within Alliance and with other stakeholders,
· Have a clear understanding of inception phase steps and deliverables and facilitate clear understanding among partners.
· Have a clear understanding of WASH SDG Theory of Change, principles and objectives and provide technical advice to clear understanding among partners of those elements relevant for the WAI programme.
· Organize different events relevant for the WAI inception phase including meeting, seminar, and workshop with multi stakeholders.
· Identify opportunities to improve and strengthen programme; including identifying the gaps within programme and local partners who can fulfill those gaps taking into account the available resources.
· Identify opportunities for WAI programme development and resource mobilization within the country.
· Report writing WAI programme, according to the required formats and deadlines, in cooperation with Amref NL as Lead Implementing Organisation (LIO).
· Follow-up/monitor progress of inception phase activities.
· Facilitate learning/sharing process among partners and with wider WASH sector.
· Report timely on issues to Amref and communicate on relevant issues to other WAI partners.
· Advise the WAI partners on different trends and opportunities within the country.
· Technically advise on operational budget in close cooperation with Amref ET and Amref NL in order to ensure smooth operations in the inception phase
· Link/coordinate with the national and local government and other relevant stakeholders.
· Undertake other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
D. Planning, monitoring and evaluation of the WAI inception phase steps
· Manage process of planning, facilitation and implementation of the different inception phase activities, like scoping study, GESI assessment, CVR assessment, baseline and development WAI ToC for the specific country.
· Report writing WAI programme, according to the required formats and deadlines, in cooperation with LIO.
· Review the contribution of partners in the perspective of the WAI program
E. Program development and coordination
· Facilitate the process of final intervention area selection;
· Facilitate cooperation, collaboration and working towards common goal of the WAI programme.
· Contribute to the development of the ToC and to the development and the content of the country plans for the implementation phase.
· Organize alliance meetings/ workshops relevant for the inception phase
F. Capacity building and learning
· Facilitate learning and keeping track records of the lessons learnt
· Facilitate capacity building to WAI partners staffs
G. Communication
· Enhance relevant WASH sector relations (both internal and external; North-South vice versa communications)
· Information sharing across the WAI and Consortium partners
· Representing the WASH alliance in national, regional and international networks
· Ensure alignment with the consortium communication strategy.
Job Requirement
· M.Sc in Project management or related fields
· At least 10 year related work experience in WASH sector
· knowledge and experience, experience in working in alliance setting
Duration: 5 months with possibilities of extension
