Gordon Ramsay places a bet at Horseshoe Casino

WASHINGTON — Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was on hand Wednesday night for the opening of his first East Coast steakhouse, at Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino.

Gordon Ramsay Steak opened its first restaurant at the Paris casino in Las Vegas in 2012.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to introduce Gordon Ramsay Steak in Charm City,” Ramsay said. Baltimore is home to wonderful restaurants, and I’m thrilled to add to the culinary landscape.”

Ramsay joins two other celebrity chefs at Horseshoe Casino.

Food Network’s Guy Fieri runs Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen + Bar; fellow Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis announced plans last month to open a restaurant at Horseshoe, though no name or opening date was announced.

De Laurentiis’ only other restaurant, called Giada, opened at the Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas in 2013, and focuses on Italian dishes.

De Laurentiis’ restaurant will take space formerly occupied by two other celebrity chefs. Johnny Sanchez was a joint venture between Aaron Sanchez and John Besh. It closed in September, before Besh stepped down from Besh Restaurant Group after workplace sexual harassment allegations.

Ramsay’s Gordon Ramsay Group operates 32 restaurants.
