Famine is not a word aid agencies use lightly, but it's the description being used increasingly to describe the situation in parts of southern and eastern Africa.

Some areas of Somalia and South Sudan haven't had rain for two years.

The drought has destroyed crops and killed livestockleaving millions of people in desperate need of food.
