A pedestrian is lucky to be alive after he was smashed over the head by a loose tyre from a trailer being pulled by a pick-up truck .
The man was walking along a side street with a female friend when the tyre came rolling down a grass verge at speed.
After bouncing on the concrete, the rubber object hit the man over the head with force, causing him to be immediately knocked unconscious.
As the man collapses on the ground, his female friend rushes over in shock, attempting to offer assistance.
Another onlooker rushes over to pick up the loose tyre from the middle of the road while a second witness runs over to the man to offer medical aid.
The incident is reported to have occurred in Ipatinga, a municipality located in the Minas Gerais state of Brazil, on February 17.
According to the owner of the CCTV footage , the tyre fell off a trailer being pulled by a pick-up truck.
They added: "When the rescue team arrived, he had a lesion on his skull and was unconscious.
"He is in the hospital now and is expected to survive ."
The footage, which has been posted on YouTube, has now been viewed more than 14,400 times.
