The Zionist Record on Refugees

Historically, Zionists have put the interests of Israel over the humanitarian plight of refugees, even in the face of Nazi Germany and now in shying away from offending President Trump, writes Lawrence Davidson.

By Lawrence Davidson

It is a strange story. American Jews (and I expect it is the case with other Jews too) act in solidarity with other discriminated groups only if they, the Jews, resist Zionist leadership. If they follow the Zionist lead, they usually do one of two things: passively support the discriminatory majority or stay silent. This behavior is particularly true when it comes to the issue of immigrants.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at AIPAC conference in Washington, D.C., on March 4, 2014.

I can see the eye-rolling and disgust on the faces of the Zionists who might be reading this analysis. Their reaction is to be expected because it is based on a self-image built on ideology rather than on honest knowledge of their own history. When we look at that history, we see that U.S. Zionist organizations have always played to the prejudices of the power brokers. The results, in terms of ethics and values, have been deplorable.

Here is a telling historical example. In the years leading up to the U.S. entrance into World War II, there was a general consensus on the issue of immigration. Most of the U.S. population was opposed to letting immigrants, most of whom were refugees, into the country. David Schoenbaum tells us in his book The U.S. and the State of Israel that in 1938, the same year as the Nazi pogrom known as Kristallnacht, 83 percent of respondents of a U.S. poll said they opposed any adjustment of immigration laws to allow in more European refugees. A year later, a bill to admit 20,000 mostly Jewish refugee children, above the existing minimal quota, failed in both the House and the Senate.

In part, this anti-immigrant attitude was the result of a Great Depression-era frame of mind that assumed that, even as war loomed on the horizon, unemployment was a permanent problem. And, in addition, the opposition to immigration was a reflection of traditional racism against any peoples whose origins were not the same as the U.S. middle and upper classes – mostly English and northern European.

For American Jews, the immigration of refugees was a particularly important issue. After all, Hitler ruled Germany and he was imprisoning and killing all the Jews he could get his hands on. As a result, much of Europe’s Jewish population was scared and ready to leave. However, often the problem was not getting out of the country oppressing you, but finding a safer country to get into.

Under the circumstances, one would assume that American Zionist organizations and leaders would be strongly lobbying Congress for greater refugee access to the U.S. However, as Gulie Ne’eman Arad tells us in the book America, Its Jews, and the Rise of Nazism, they were not. Typical of their attitude was a statement made by the Zionist leader Rabbi Stephen Wise during a Congressional hearing in 1939: “I have heard no sane person propose any departure from the existing [immigration] law now in force.” A self-damning statement if there ever was one.

Along the same lines it is to be noted that a year earlier, in 1938, the Zionist leader in Palestine, David Ben Gurion, had, according to the historian Benny Morris in his book Righteous Victims, declared that “if I knew it was possible to save all [Jewish] children in Germany by their transfer to England and only half of them by transferring them to Eretz-Yisrael [Palestine], I would choose the latter.”

Why was this the Zionist attitude? The reason offered at the time by American Zionists like Rabbi Wise was that an influx of Jewish refugees would spark an upsurge in anti-Semitism in the U.S. – a pitiful excuse in the case of not allowing entry to an additional 20,000 Jewish children. However this assertion was really a cover for a more ideologically dictated position. The Zionists did not want Europe’s Jewish refugees coming to the U.S. They wanted them to go to British-controlled Palestine.

However, the British had severely limited immigration into Palestine so as to maintain the support of Arabs for the Allied war effort against Germany and Italy. So what did Wise and his fellow U.S. Zionists do? They refused to engage in any attempt to support American immigration reform, and instead agitated in Congress and the press for pressure on the British to change Palestine’s immigration restrictions. They did this even though it at once cut off a viable American refuge for European Jews and threatened to complicate the British war effort in the Middle East.

The Immigration Issue Today

Fast-forwarding to the present, we see that immigration and refugees are again major issues for the U.S. Today it is not Europeans, Jews or otherwise, fleeing from fascist oppression. Rather, it is Mexican immigrants crossing the country’s southern border in an effort to escape the poverty and violence of their homeland. It is also peoples of Arab ethnicity fleeing from wars that were often started or prolonged by the United States.

In the U.S. we now have a president, Donald Trump, who was elected on an anti-immigrant platform reflecting a bigoted outlook reminiscent of the 1930s. Trump wants to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border as well as to ban entry into the country of people of certain religious and/or national backgrounds.

Reaction to Trump’s bigotry has divided the American Jewish community. Organizations of progressive Jewish activists such as If Not Now (which puts itself forward as a “Jewish resistance” movement) and the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom (which allies with local Muslims to oppose discrimination and hate), along with a number of Jewish Democratic politicians, have vocally rejected the President’s position on immigrants, refugees and Muslims.

But the reaction of the Zionist organizations has mostly been true to their history. For instance, Morton Klein, head of the Zionist Organization of America, opposes the entrance of Syrian refugees “until we have a better vetting system.” One suspects this is an excuse because the present system is in fact, exhaustive.

Now consider the more general position taken by the influential Abe Foxman, the “director emeritus” of the Anti-Defamation League. Foxman labels active resistance to Trump’s regressive policies, as well as any criticism of the positions taken by American Zionist organizations, as “nonsense.” Despite the fact that he and other Jewish leaders know that Trump “legitimized some of the ugliness,” Foxman wants to “enlist” the President in the fight against bigotry. He concludes that to “resist him and fight him is immature.” A similar position toward official bigotry was taken by Stephen Wise and the American Zionists in 1930s.

The safety and concerns of American Jews as regards bigotry and hate are not the primary interest of Zionist leaders like Klein and Foxman. Indeed, to the extent that such fears increase support for and dependence on Israel, these concerns are actually viewed as helpful. Nor do the Zionist organizations have any interest in opposing the U.S. government except on the command of the Israeli government.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has great regard for Donald Trump and high hopes that now the U.S. government will put a final seal of approval on Israel’s own bigoted treatment of the Palestinians and illegal absorption of the West Bank. So the American Zionist organizations are not going to actively oppose Trump and will pressure other Jews to either support him or to stay silent.

The truth is that the Zionists have been eroding away the humanistic aspects of Jewish values for decades – casting them aside in favor of worst sort of “identity politics.” As a consequence official Judaism, taking its marching orders from people like Wise and Foxman and Klein has remained stuck in an ethically deplorable rut.

Open borders for israel. I think the poor of the world will always get a fair shake in israel. After all, the jews are more sensitive, more moral, and the least tribal of all people on earth.

Thus, Israel should have open borders for all of the world’s poor and impoverished.

Whenever someone criticizes the policies of the government of Israel towards the Palestinians, there is an immediate outpouring of claims of anti-Semitism. This has happened again and again. The recent abstention by the US on the UN resolution condemning Israel’s illegal settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem has occasioned a charge of the US “stabbing Israel in the back”. Enough said.

But, Palestinians are of Semitic descent, and speak a Semitic language. Ashkenazi Jews (who run Israel) are of Caucasian descent, and speak either a Germanic language (Yiddish) or a Syncretic language (Modern Hebrew.) Sephardic Jews are of Iberian descent, and Mizrahati Jews are of Arab descent, and Ethiopian Jews are of African descent. Thus, only Mizrahatic Jews are the only Jews with a valid claim of being Semitic. They are also one of the more oppressed communities within Israel.

This, anyone who conflates a pro-Palestinian stance with “Anti-Semiticism” is being disingenuously Anti-Semantic.

Which more resembles the face that I see, the one in the mirror – or one just like me?
Which has become more attuned to the chaos, which has pretexted a reason for war?
Pogroms conducted in guise of defense, a democracy labelled that never has been,
Why wouldn’t we tolerate optimized loss, if the myth of reflection was smokescreen before?

Mirror, betray me, don’t show me the truth, I come to be flattered, not seeking a sooth-
My soul now reflects in the image perceived, created to please the delusions I heed,
Reworking my soul to become the reflection of righteous indignant and chosen allies,
This chosen entanglement never conceived when my forefathers’ agony skirted that creed.

Flatter me mirror, exalt the mirage, my demise must be pleasantly yours to massage,
My image has likened itself to your tinge as the nuance so gently applied to mislead,
I truly believe that I look just like you, perhaps your reflection is all I remain,
Constraints that once mattered no longer impinge, my image no longer defined by a deed,

All that remains is to cast off the ghost, the carcass defiled, the image betrayed,
Illusion absorbed with all guilt left behind offers myth made incarnate extending a hand,
The mirror invites with a grasp that will bind, down a pathway to nothingness lost in the glass,
Reflections devoid of the truth disappear with the false prophet’s bribe and the sorcerer paid.

Yes, we’ve spent the last sixty years becoming a reflection of our ally. We’ll accept the pogroms. You forget that we’ve been providing the bombs. We may go farther still, gladly, and pride ourselves on the deed we’ve done. Then, we may adopt the same solutions at home. A perfect reflection. It depicts the soul of our nation as it steps into its own image and disappears.

Thank you Professor Davidson for digging into this phenomenon.
I have noticed what I think may be a parallel phenomenon taking place within other religions, namely a predisposition of some towards authoritarianism and on the other towards humanism.

For example during the horrible regime change wars that we sponsored in Central America the left wing Jesuits who were martyred for their work with the poor were opposed by the right wing side of the church that supported the establishment.

In this country, on one side we have the right wing evangelicals who murdered abortion doctors and on the other side the left wing part of the Christian church who opposed that.

In this country we have some who consider themselves Christians who strongly support the death penalty but are against abortion and we have others who abhor the death penalty and support a woman’s right to choose.

I don’t have the historical facts to express my observations in the rigorous way you have written your essay.
But, for a long time I have noticed that there seems to be two different genetic? cultural? “personalities” within cultures/countries/religions. No matter what the issue there seems to be the fearful, rigid, right wing approach that appeals to some and there seems to be the humanist side based on compassion and understanding.

I am wondering whether the phenomenon is very primitive going back to neanderthals and homo sapiens.
I guess we all have a mix of genes from both homo sapiens and neanderthals based on what I have gleaned from the little I have read.

Or perhaps it’s a cultural thing.

In Woody Allen’s movie “Everyone Says I Love You” 1996, a very progressive civic minded couple are shocked that there son is a right wing nut. He’s then diagnosed with a brain tumor and wakes up from his operation minus the right wing tendencies.

I think your essay is describing a right wing vs left wing perception to reality.

    Sorry if i’m misinterpreting.
    Thanks!

There is a growing recognition that a two state solution was ever a viable option, kept alive by dreamers and cynics. Absent an unthinkable move to expel all Arabs, the only option is a single multicultural state. When Zionists, the President and the Congress think the capitol should be in Jerusalem is unimportant when this eventuality comes to pass. One of the saddest decisions made by the United States after World War II was not to support the element of the petition plan which called for Jerusalem being an international city. The flags of any nation seem out of place flying on its walls given its importance to three major religions.

  10. Herman
    January 24, 2017 at 10:53

It appears to me that the recognition that a two state solution never existed is gaining greater and greater acceptance and a single multicultural state of Israel/Palestine the only real option. It is inevitable absent an unthinkable pogrom to rid the region of non-Jews. So, if the Likud party and our President wants to move the capitol to Jerusalem, it is of no consequence since it will be the capitol of a multicultural, multiethnic state. One of the saddest parts of this travesty is that the United States was never willing to back the United Nations when it proposed that Jerusalem be an international city at the time it proposed petitioning Palestine between Jews and Arabs. For anyone visiting Jerusalem, there is a feeling of unease seeing the Israel flags flying over its walls as it would be for any national flag.

I think you are right Herman. I’m not sure what the plan is. Perhaps they hope Palestinians will coalesce with the Jewish populace into one country in time, but they do absolutely nothing to desensitize Palestinians from the past. Israel has changed to, and the number of crusty orthodox elements is increasing rapidly (high birthrate) while the moderates are waning. Many on the left have departed unable to live with the Zionist tyranny. Perhaps Zionists still believe that making life so miserable for Palestinians will push them out and then, when their stats are right, seek absolution and make amends with Palestinians. By that time I think the growth in orthodoxy within Israel will make that dream impossible. Who knows. My other fear is what happens when such a rabid culture that has so much influence in the West’s policy making, has atomic bombs, and a damage psyche finally gets all it wanted. A dangerously spoilt child in a classroom with no teacher.

For the record, there was in fact the 1933 Havaara agreement (look it up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haavara_Agreement is a good starting point) between the German government and the German Zionist federation. National Socialist Germany paid for much of the infrastructure in Palestine upon which Israel was later built, and through this agreement sent sixty thousand German Jews there with all their money, to start new lives. The SS was particularly enthusiastic about the project, and set up training camps in Germany to teach the Jewish emigrants the agricultural skills they would need to survive in Palestine. The blue and white Star of David flag first unveiled at the first Zionist convention in 1897 flew over these camps. The official SS newspaper,”Das Schwarze Korps”, proclaimed its support for Zionism in a May 1935 front-page editorial: “The time may not be too far off when Palestine will again be able to receive its sons who have been lost to it for more than a thousand years. Our good wishes, together with official goodwill, go with them.”

The British government stopped this program by banning further emigration to Palestine. They did everything possible to prevent Jews from leaving German-controlled territory, and in fact interned during the war some 200,000 German Jewish refugees on the grounds they might be Nazi spies in disguise. British agents assassinated Zionist warlord Abraham Stern after he proposed to offer Germany a military alliance against the British in Palestine.

Once again historicus you come through with some untold history for us to learn about, and enjoy. I’m glad you posted this, because I will admit how I need to get more educated with this (I suspect) purposely suppressed historical factoid that goes sadly unnoticed. Do you also think that this 1933 Havaara agreement gets purposely left out of our history books, because it doesn’t fit the Zionist narravative, or is there another reason for it’s under reporting?

I’m leaving a link to something that involved Israel and the U.S. from 50 years ago, that also doesn’t get enough press either….

The Havaara agreement happened at the same time that the Zionists were calling for a worldwide boycott of Germany. The boycott was opposed by the Rabbis, as they feared (presciently) that such a boycott would be a provocation of the Germans that would cause them to harm Jews. (Zionists, at this point, were pretty much all Atheists, and outspokenly so. Traditional Jewish teaching is that G-d had exiled them from Zion, and they were forbidden to return en masse, until G-d sent the Mosiach to lead them, thus Zionism was universally seen as heretical and even blasphemous at the time.)

Part of the Havaara agreement was that only German equiptment and supplies would be used in conquering Palestine, despite the fact that the same people who made this agreement were calling for a boycott of everything German at the same time.

If you are intetested in doing further research, Neturei Karta has a good website, though I am currently unable to find their historical documents section. True Torah Jews are also a good resource, their historical documents section is at http://www.truetorahjews.org/zionism

Traditional Jews oppose the existence of a “State of Israel”, which they often refer to as a Golden Calf. Neturei Karta (descended from the pre-1948 Rabbis of Palestine) regularly protest outside the Israeli Embassy in NYC. They oppose it not only due to its basis in ethnic cleansing, but also on religious grounds. Very interesting and little reported perspective. They also hold public burnings of the Israeli flag for Purim, in Williamsburg NYC (one of the most heavily Jewish populated areas outside Tel Aviv)

All of the hoopla – ALL of it – over Russia is a product of the unspoken reality of what motivates much of U.S. Foreign Policy. U.S. Foreign Policy is in turn informed largely by U.S. “think tanks” with pro-Zionist agendas. Corporate interests involving resource extraction, labor exploitation, market manipulation and weapons sales are cited as prime considerations underlying “regime change” and “humanitarian intervention”, but it is difficult to disregard the prominent overlap among the membership of these entities.

Note the recent introduction of HR-193 by Mike Rogers (R-AL) entitled, “The American Sovereignty Restoration Act”. This would pull us completely out of the United Nations and evict the organization from its headquarters in New York. According to Rogers, the reason for this is because, “They don’t respect us or our ally Israel”. I could go into a million reasons why this bill proves Mike Rogers is a moron. First, we would lose an intelligence windfall because just about every telephone call in or out is recorded, many of the representatives from other countries likely spy for us, and even the toilet stalls in the rest rooms are rumored to be bugged. The list would be too long to continue here, but suffice to say that Adolf Hitler had the same disdain for the League of Nations. Apparently though, the fact that virtually every country on the face of the earth except Nauru and Republic of the Marshall Islands agrees that Israel is a “rogue state” is a good reason for the U.S. to drop out.

When are we going to dispense with this charade? Israel’s real goal is “Greater Israel”, which would likely include Golan Heights, Sinai Peninsula, most of Lebanon and a hefty chunk of Jordan. They also want the water, oil and mineral rights and removal of all the indigenous non-Jewish residents. U.S. Foreign Policy has been tacitly aimed at achieving this outcome for at least three decades. Why don’t we just make it happen now, and achieve peace? It would be a lot cheaper to buy off all the Palestinians than to wage a nuclear war with Russia. Because, as things stand now, that war will guarantee the elimination of Israel.

It may be difficult. Israel will never define exactly where her borders should be. Given the opportunity, they would extend to the Nile in the West, and to the Euphrates in the east. Vast tracts of northern Africa and the Maghreb would likely also be desirable. Saudi Arabia would not likely be spared. So, they’d have to be held to a “one time only” deal, take it or leave it. There will not be peace otherwise.

Obama’s pronouncement that, “Russia is weak, economically isolated and has only losers for friends” also reminds me of a Hitler quote. “Kick in the front door and the whole rotten edifice will collapse”. So, Hitler sent three million soldiers and five thousand armored vehicles to knock on the door. Two hundred thousand, or roughly 7% came home. Another clutch of morons including Michele Flournouy of CNAS and the Kagan clan at The Institute for the Study of War probably thought up the brilliant idea of sending three thousand soldiers and a few dozen tanks to Poland. Putin must be pissing himself in convulsive laughter by now.

It’s way past time to solve this problem. Save Israel now, or accept the consequences.

Yes, although I would not suggest any concession at all to Israel after its long history of essentially fascist oppression. The zionists have had their respite after WWII; it is time to expel them. Let Isis surround them and fight them street to street; let the Israelis test their nukes on their own soil. It would be better to have Isis and the Palestinians there than the cancer of Israel.

My hope is that if Russia and America is to have that détente moment that we all have been waiting for, and to have this détente through an atmosphere of peaceful negotiations, that these two super powers will be able to bridge their differences, and there by confront such ugly situations as Ukraine, Syria, Iran, and Israel, if I may just mention a few to get my thoughts laid out for you.

When it comes to Israel a two state solution is a train that has left the station. Although not having a two state solution would not necessarily been an end to having Palestintian’s living peacefully amongst the Jewish settlers of Israel. If Trump and Putin were to be able to team up against Netanyahu together then they may leave Netanyahu no other choice but to except a truly democratic one state to replace the now apartheid state they now certainly have. This done successfully would require that Israeli alongside Palestintian people and any other people’s within it’s borders would have equal representation, and put laws in place where all of Israel’s (by it’s curtain name) people would live in peace.

Israel has benefitted with the U.S. sanctions which have been imposed upon Russia, and now enjoys a terrific amount of increased business with the now sanctioned Russia. Israel would definitely lose a lot of new found Russian business, if America were to end the sanctions that America has hammered down on the Russian Federation over these last few years.

I’m going to end my thought process right here, and now, because as simple as I am making this all sound there is so much more that this comment would become a sixteen volume report, and I’m not capable nor do I or any of you have the time to read this at that length. I will say this thought, that by Trump trashing the TPP, and his threatening to do the same to NAFTA and GATT that this could be away towards working towards a National Monetary system, and with this move he would certainly end the power of the NWO, not to mention bring down America’s National Debt. If my theory is correct, and if this is the game plan, well President Donald better hope that he has picked the right generals to watch his back.

If you thought of how so far we have all lived through some pretty monumental times in history, we’ll get ready because you ain’t seen nothing yet…just wait, we are now (for the good or bad of it) entering into the hyperdrive of one of the most historical moments ever to be seen unfold upon this planet called mother-earth…so buckle up!

Joe, you’ve missed Israel’s perpetual arguement against “one state, one person, one vote”. They will not accept a democratic state with equal rights for non-Jews because of the birth-rate issue. Within a generation or two under those conditions, the Palestinian population would exceed the Jewish population, and Israel would no longer be the “Jewish State”. Ain’t gonna happen, no how, no way. Israel will be apartheid, ethnically cleansed or a separate state. All you need to do is ask, and that’s the answer they’ll give you. What’s that old quote? “When people tell you who they are, believe them.”

Hasn’t the Palestintian’s always had a majority? Going forward will apartheid states be recognized, and are they legal? Is it possible that between a cooperative alliance between Russia, and America, could together they have an influence over solving this long put off Middle East dilemma?

The reason I’m asking you all of these questions, is because you always seem to have reasonable and coherent answers. Lastly, do you think a two state solution will work? Funny how in most cases such as this I wouldn’t give a hoot, but due to how bogged down our country is over this implementation of the Israeli Yinon plans enforcement, it does matter to an American such as myself.

Thanks for your opinion. I take what you say very seriously. Joe

RE: “When we look at that history, we see that U.S. Zionist organizations have always played to the prejudices of the power brokers.” ~ Davidson

MY COMMENT: For instance, back in 1952 the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) gave Nixon its ‘stamp of approval’!

SEE: “Nixon and the Jews. Again.” | By David Greenberg | Slate.com | March 12, 2002
    • If his tirades against Jews weren’t anti-Semitism, what were they?

[EXCERPTS] Richard Nixon’s reputation as a hateful, vindictive anti-Semite was reinforced late last month when the National Archives, which has been releasing the 3,700 hours of Nixon’s tape-recorded White House conversations in installments since 1996, dropped another batch. . .

. . . When the Republicans nominated Nixon as their vice-presidential candidate in 1952, some opponents accused him of anti-Semitism. Nixon had Murray Chotiner, his (Jewish) campaign manager, secure the ADL’s stamp of approval. Still, into the summer voters inundated campaign headquarters with letters asking about Nixon’s feelings toward Jews. The candidate sometimes responded himself, with his characteristic earnestness. “I want to thank you for … your courtesy in calling my attention to the false rumor that I am anti-Semetic [sic],” he wrote in one reply. “I am enclosing a copy of a letter which Murray Chotiner has sent to these people which, I believe, is self-explanatory.” . . .

Sorry, in my haste I got the story wrong, it wasn’t the Israeli soldiers but police shooting and watch die a Palestinian. It was Jews and Arabs protesting a house demolition. I often copy stories and read them later off screen. Still pretty wicked.

Seem to forget ‘israel’ created the worlds largest/longest suffering refugee population and defy international law allowing them to return to their homes and lands in historical Palestine which was also a condition they agreed upon to gain admittance into the UN.

“In 1941 when Jews were being carted off to death camps [in Europe], the Irgun [terror gang which became Likud] dismissed as “anti Semitic” attempts to offer them safe haven outside of Palestine, and published warnings directed to dissenting Jews not to interfere with zionists; “God given right” to rule Palestine & Transjordan.Jews of North Africa and the Middle east were also needed “As cannon and demographic fodder” for the state, in the words of Hanna Braun, a Haganna member involved with bringing them into Palestine, and so campaigns of misinformation, intimidation, and false-flag ‘Arab’ terrorism were used to get them to leave their homelands. A punitive exit tax and loss of original citizenship kept many from returning home once the deceit was exposed; and especially in the case of Iraq, there was little left of ‘home’ to which to return, as israel’s manufactured exodus had effectively destroyed the ancient Jewish community.
Even before Zionist scouts cabled Vienna in 1898 with the disappointing confirmation that Palestine was not an empty land, but ‘already married to another bride’ (the Palestinians), proponents acknowledged that their political goal could only be achieved by violence against the civilian population – which is commonly considered ‘terrorism’. It is immaterial whether this is accomplished by killing or expelling the land’s people, expropriating all means of livelihood and thus starving them out, by commandeering their acquifers, through laws ethnically engineered for the purpose, or simply by making life so miserable for them that they leave ‘of their own accord’. Much is made of the meaning of this word ‘terrorism’. A common narrative has it that Zionist violence was not terrorism, because it targeted the British ruling establishment, not civilians, within pre-1948 Palestine, this position would require an extravagantly narrow definition of ‘civilians’, and by the turn of 1948 it would require declaring the entire indigenous non-Jewish population of Palestine to be non-civilian. Jews were a specific target as well: both before and after 1948, hundreds of thousands of people in Europe, north Africa, and the Middle east became a fair game for Zionist violence [cruel Zionism] because they were Jewish, since Zionism depended not just on transfer of non-Jewish Palestinians out of Palestine, but also of transfer of Jews into Palestine. Anti-Jewish tactics [by zionists] included manipulating the Displaced Persons (DP) camps, thwarting safe haven opportunities, kidnapping Jewish orphans, and destroying Jewish communities in North Africa and the Middle east through propaganda and false-flag ‘Arab terrorism – all to ship ‘ethnically correct’ people to Palestine in the service of the settler state.”-

Thank you Lawrence Davidson for furthering my knowledge on the subject and presenting the story to many. I did know that the Zionist organizations were determined to prevented Jewish immigration to the West with the idea of trying to get them to their so called ‘promised land.’ I didn’t know the other factors concerning immigration at that time. Also, as I have said before, indigenous Jews of the region didn’t want these trouble makers ‘Zionists’ coming to Palestine and upsetting the apple-cart. Thank you and to Consortium News.

Off topic, I think everyone should see Jonathan Cook’s article on the recent story of the car hitting the Israeli soldiers. The MSM probably won’t print what witnesses and overhead video show.

    http://www.jonathan-cook.net/2017-01-22/umm-al-hiran-continuing-nakba/

“An aerial video taken by police appears to confirm the witnesses’
accounts, showing Abu al-Qiyan driving slowly and cautiously
until there were bursts of gunfire from the police. The car can then
be seen accelerating and veering wildly down the steep slope.”

“Lawyers for the family will get a hearing before Israel’s Supreme
Court on Monday to demand his body’s return.”

Professor Davidson: Thank you for filling in this gap in my knowledge regarding Jews in America even if your article was another reminder of the long history of Man’s inhumanity to Man.

The comments related to U.S. rejection of refugees created in great part by U.S. policies is another reminder of our national tradition of hypocrisy.
